If you fancy staying somewhere different for a change then why not try our newly completed contemporary barn conversion. We are situated in the heart of the countryside so a car is essential. We have beautiful views across the valley but are 5 mins away from many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops and the medieval towns and villages that the area is famous for. The local medieval town is just 10 mins away by car with at least 6 good restaurants, shops etc and has year round festivals. There are also nocturnal markets held in the town gardens every Thursday evening throughout July and August.
For family fun days out there is Rouffiac which is a large fresh water lake (lifeguard on duty throughout the summer) together with a white sandy beach, where you can do numerous watersports or just go for long walks round the nature reserve, there is also toilets and changing room facilities together with a cafe and restaurant so everything is on hand for a good day out. There are also many chateaux and medieval villages in the area all well worth a visit, one in particular being Segur-le-Chateau which has the accolade of one of the most beautiful villages in France, there are cafes, bars and restaurants here all perched along a river front together with marked hiking trails through the village and a weekly producers market throughout the summer on a Monday morning.
The barn was built in 1945 just after World War 2 and was built out of the traditional flint that this area of the Dordogne is famous for. We have now transformed it into a contemporary spacious building but still retaining it's character.
There are 2 double bedrooms and a twin bedroom - one of the doubles has an en-suite bathroom. There is also a family bathroom. We have a sofa bed which can accommodate an extra 2 people. We have English & French Satellite tv and an ipod docking station. Cooling fans are supplied in all 3 bedrooms for the summer and there are heaters for the winter.
There is a west facing patio and bbq provided, the patio catches the sun from midday until sunset and the pool is next to the barn so it's handy for cooling off. The pool is solar heated and can reach temperatures of 28-30 degrees in the summer, and sits in an acre of private garden. There is also secure gated off road parking. In the adjoining smaller barn you will find a games room equipped with a billiard table as well as a ping pong table for kids, there is also a laundry area here with washing machine, iron and iorning board.
The area is really quiet and a long way from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A holiday in our barn will give you the best of both worlds - a quite relaxing break, or the chance to get out and explore the area as there is enough to see and do here to fill every day - the choice is up to you!
The barn is non smoking and sorry we do not accommodate pets. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine is provided with our compliments and if there is an evening where you don't fancy going out but don't particularly fancy cooking either then we can offer you an evening meal cooked by our own chef. This would be served either in the gite or "al fresco" whichever you prefer. Details of menus etc are provided in a welcome pack on arrival or we could send you some sample menus by request and are priced at 22 euros per person.

We are Sue & Steve Lawn and moved to France for a quieter pace of life in 2006. We started off in Brittany where we renovated a 16th Century watermill but then moved further south to the Dordogne in 2012 where we renovated the barn into a 3 bed gite.

|Why this location?||We chose this location for its peacefulness, you wake up in the morning and hear nothing but birdsong. It has a west facing garden with views over the Dordogne countryside. The weather is beautiful during the summer months, with mild winters and quite warm spring's and autumns. The area is steeped in history and beautiful countryside, with lots of things to see and do or if you prefer just relax in the garden by pool!|
|Unique benefits of property||The barn is spacious, with open plan living and being built of the local stone stays cool in the summer. The ancient site of Rocamodor well worth a visit to its medieval city and historical significance - one of the must see's on the tourist trail.

If you love horses then a visit to Pompadour (20 mins) is a must. It is home to the "Haras National" and is known as the city of horses. There is always something going on throughout the year in the Castle grounds being horse racing, dressage or just festivals and shows.
For those interested in historic sites of natural beauty then why not try Gimel-les-Cascades (roughly 45mins away. One of the first sites in France to be granted the status of a heritage sitee. An old, cobbled town nestled at the top of a natural gorge with it's spectacular waterfalls and countryside walks.
Beautiful clean barn, the pictures don't do it justice. Very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you'd need. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather so using the pool was out of the question but the garden was lovely and we did manage to bbq nearly every night. We ate out at La Popote in St Yrieix la Perche twice, we'd definitely recommend it. Sue and Steve were amazing hosts nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate at the barn one night, Sue cooked for us, 22 euros a head was definitely money well spent the food was delicious. The only thing we girls (not the boys) found was missing was a full length mirror! We would highly recommend this property and may well return.
Thanks Holly for your lovely review, we really enjoyed your visit and you are all welcome any time. P.s. you girls don't need a full length mirror - you both looked fabulous anyway! Take care Steve & Sue
A beautiful location and a superb property with a first class renovation. Sue and Steve were extremely helpful and accommodating.
We have stayed in many properties in this region and this was the best of the lot.
