|Les Jonies||Self Catering||Saturday||2||4||1||Cot plus Sofa Bed in Lounge|
Les Jonies is a typically French gite updated to offer lovely accommodation for the perfect holiday. Vaulted ceilings and stone walls. The gite sits within 20 acres of mainly woodland, so there is plenty of land to explore, alongside the owner's own home and shares a stunning pool with one other property. Please note: The pool is only available May-September.
The Gite enjoys a private terrace (which will be fully covered this year to allow outside dining in the warmth) which enjoys the sun from early in the morning to early evening onto a secluded private garden with access to the pool area. All linens and towels, except pool towels are provided.
Parking is available for 2+ cars and a car is recommended as our nearest village, with a butchers, bakers, restaurants and a supermarket is 5kms away although this is only a short drive as there is very little traffic and no traffic lights or traffic jams!
This is a perfect location to just chill out and enjoy the space of the property (which sits in 20 acres overall, mostly woodland) or to base yourself for the surrounding delights .... Mussidan (10 kms), Neuvic (5 kms), Perigueux (28 kms), Bergerac (20 kms), Sarlat (50 kms).
Swimming, canoeing, caviar tasting and various activities for children are available at nearby Neuvic (5kms).
There are loads of local attractions during the Summer months including various food and bric-a-brac markets at all the local towns and some fantastic sightseeing.
We can provide badminton net/rackets free of charge upon request. The owners (Carol & Tony) live next door - the properties are set such that they are totally private from each other - and will be available to help you make the most of your holiday in any way they can.
There is an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge.
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, dishwasher and microwave.
Vaulted stone room with a large fireplace and wood burner.
Door onto the private terrace.
The Gite has 2 double rooms.
A double (with roof light window) furnished with a traditional French bed, is located on the mezzanine floor above the lounge which is accessed via a narrow spiral cast iron stairway, there is a further bedroom with a triple bed (double with single bunk above) with two windows on the ground floor which is accessed down one small step from the lounge area.
There is one bathroom that has a shower, hand basin and wc.
There is also a washer/dryer in the bathroom.
There is no central heating and it is generally not needed during the months of May-September.
There is a wood burner which sufficiently warms the whole Gite if needed.
The Gite has a private enclosed garden with bbq and backs onto the owner's field and circa 15 acres of woodland all of which can be enjoyed by guests.
Plenty of off road parking.
There is a beautiful pool (10m x 5m) with sunbeds and shades.
Tony and I moved to France in June 2015 to enjoy a different, more relaxed lifestyle than previously. We have spend months updating both properties and enjoying the beautiful area.
|Year property purchased||2015|
|Why this location?||We think this location is perfect as it is secluded enough to enjoy either total peace and quiet or to make as much noise as we (and our guests) want yet it is close to many small villages and two larger towns so best of both worlds!|
|Unique benefits of property||Seclusion and privacy - nothing is overlooked. Woods and fields are perfect for dogs and adventurous children. Shops and supermarkets are only a short drive away.|

RIVE GAUCHE (Neuvic Sur L'Isle). The restaurant is by the river and offers traditional cuisine. They also do alfresco Moules/Frites karaoke evenings on a Wednesday evening during July & August (EUR 15 pp - 2015 price) which are great fun to watch as the locals seem to fully embrace the Karaoke. Children are very welcome (as they are everywhere in France) and the Rive Gauche also offers mini-golf and trampolines for extra entertainment (all within the boundary of the restaurant and within view of the terrace). Very accommodating hosts, friendly but not overbearing and they recommended some lovely restaurants. Tony and Carol went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and our stay was comfortable. We enjoyed the heated pool, and eating out on the decking. We would certainly recommend this property.
The perfect place to 'get away from the rat race'.
The property was very clean, furnished beautifully but without clutter!, plenty of space and privacy and a pool, who could ask for more? The owners were on hand to answer any questions and were very helpful, down to earth and informative. A car is in my opinion essential, as there are no cafes shops etc in walking distance (well not my walking distance!) and the local towns/villages are very quiet - so by shopping at the local supermarche (and there's of course a Lidl) we were able to have a very relaxing time on a very reasonable budget
