About this property

Quality Gite With Child Friendly Garden & Large Pool. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

La Noisette is one of three quality gites sharing a huge child-friendly garden and heated fenced pool. The gites are collectively called Les Arbres, and are situated near the village of Champniers et Reilhac, Dordogne.

La Noisette sleeps five people and retains its character and charm whilst offering modern conveniences. Internally, La Noisette has many exposed beams and two lovely fireplaces, one with a wood burner stove. It also retains its famous regional exposed honey-coloured stonework walls. La Noisette has a large, romantic double bedroom and lounge on the ground floor, with some antique furnishings. There is a large twin bedroom and mezzanine area with a sofa bed (with a proper mattress) upstairs (accessed by a good staircase with limited headroom). The bathroom and kitchen have been completely renovated recently. There is a private patio area complete with garden furniture and bbq, giving access to the lovely garden and heated fenced pool. The standard of accommodation and furnishings are very high and La Noisette contains everything to make your family holiday one to remember.

This area of the Dordogne has lots going for it but is much less busy than other parts. We are situated in the Perigord Limousin Nature Park, so expect unspoilt countryside, lakes, forests of pine and nut trees, farms, heath and Limousin cattle. There is lots of wildlife including orchids and other wild flowers, deer, red squirrels, wild boar, buzzards, protected lizards and salamanders to mention a few. We love the slow pace of life, and although it takes a while to get used to the shops closing at lunchtime for two hours, you soon learn to do the same and enjoy lunch at one of the many good restaurants. Although we are still learning French, the people round here are friendly and helpful. Despite the quiet location there is lots to do; have a look at our website for ideas!

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Gill Connors

We fell in love with France and the French lifestyle during lots of happy holidays. We always aimed to retire early to start a new life, and buying Les Arbres has helped us to achieve that dream. Our gites were already rented out successfully when we purchased the property, and we have made lots of improvements since then. Our house is just across the lane, so we are on hand if you need any help booking a restaurant or anything else. Equally we respect your privacy to enjoy your family holiday.

Unique benefits of property The huge fenced garden has lots of stuff for children to do. As well as the heated, fenced pool we have lots of quality bikes to borrow, boules, table tennis, badminton and swings. A great favourite is our camp fire, where kids (and adults) can gather in the evenings to toast marshmallows and share a glass of wine.

The Owner Recommends

Restaurants

The area is famous for its cuisine, and we can recommend great value restaurants from snack bars to fine dining. However, many families find it difficult to tear themselves away from our sun-trap pool and gorgeous garden. Check our website for more ideas.

The lake at St Estephe

Pat and I have lived here for five years, and are always on hand to provide advice on places to visit. The lake at St Estephe is just 5km away, and provides safe lake bathing, walks, snack bars, plus free activities such as tree climbing, kids playground, dinghies, etc.

The market at Piegut

The market at Piegut, just 4km away, is the biggest in the area and you can buy everything from local fruit and veg to chickens, tractors and even a house.
