Giles and I have been running two luxury gites from the Domaine de Trepart for the last 6 years, we have 3 children and 3 dogs.
|Year property purchased||2003|
|Why this location?||We bought in the north Dordogne as we fell in love with the amazing countryside, its peace and quiet, its open skies and natural beauty.|
|Unique benefits of property||The Domaine de Trepart is set alone, along the banks of the River Cole which run through the grounds. A beautiful setting but not too far away from civilisation.|
We are situated between Brantome, the beautiful "Venice of the Dordogne", with it's stunning riverside position, market day is on Friday morning. Brantome boasts numerous quality restaurants for all budgets; and Thiviers, a market town with an excellent farmer's market on Saturday morning.
Extensive restaurants and supermarkets are within 10 minutes drive, our own village of St Pierre de Cole has a bar/restaurant, a small supermarket for those essentials, a post office and a boulangerie.
We are happy to chat before and during your stay to recommend activities and visits to ensure you benefit from what our beautiful region has to offer. A book of local activities is available in the gite.
Local chateaux in the area include the wonderful Chateau Hautefort which is truly majestic, most locally you can wander around the Chateau at Jumilhac le Grand where their night tours are splendid and lastly Villars also boasts a lovely Chateau, just 10 minutes from our door.
For those days when the sun is just too hot, perhaps a visit to the Grotte de Villars is in order. These caves are truly wonderful and will delight young and old.
Local towns include Perigueux, Bergerac, Limoges, Angouleme and a little further away is the glorious Bordeaux. The wine route around Bergerac is certainly loved by those looking to take a few bottles home, as is St. Emilion, just outside Bordeaux with its lovely cobbled streets and quaint restaurants.
Lovely spot for a relaxing holiday. Owners lives in chateau on site & were very welcoming. They gave us plenty of local knowledge. Gite was open plan, spacious and well equipped. The pool was lovely and clean and only shared with one other gite. We used used the kayaks in the garden along the river at the bottom of the garden. The owners provided a fridge fully of drinks and food for our first night which was very much appreciated. Many thanks
Thank you so much for such a great review, we are delighted that you enjoyed yourselves so much and hope you’ll come back and visit us again.
