Known as Little Venice, an historic medieval market town where the rivers Dordogne and Drone meet to surround the town. With its boutiques, restaurants, café and bars where you can relax and watch the activities on the rivers. Every Friday is market day. Canoeing is very popular here, well recommended for a visit.
The park has 7 courses with increasing difficulty (yellow, green, bleu, orange , red, black and ultra black), including about 70 games (bridges, tarzan ropes, climbing nets, zip wires…), enabling you to climb up to 12m high for the most reckless! The Espace Hermeline also has an activity for younger children, from 4 years old and a meter high, which enables them to discover new sensations on a unique course. For those of you who are nocturnal, we can organize late nights with headlamps. Reservation only. Demanding little or no technique, this activity gives you an original access to the woodland. It enables you to discover the trees and their environment in a new way. It’s the ideal way of bringing together a fun activity and a natural environment. Exclusive in the Limousin! Have a sensational time crossing the lake on a TYROCABLE. Leave from a platform situated 23m above the water and slide down the 400m long cable to reach speeds which can go up to 70km/h. For your comfort and safety, there are gloves and helmets at your disposal.
Dordogne is beautiful, with it’s breathtaking countryside, lakes, rivers and pretty quaint villages. We have prehistoric caves and sights, impressive châteaux, castles and medieval towns. With plenty to keep the whole family occupied and happy.
Situated on the riverside of the Vienne, with original settlements that date back to Roman times, the city is known for it’s fine porcelain and painted enamelware, cultural activities and botanical gardens. The city has celebrated its 2000th anniversary and is rich in cultural history with many museums, symphonies and theatres. Porcelain and fine china was developed in the 18th century out of enamel work which began in the middle ages. Visit the many shops and tour the working factories.
We have seven lovely, safe, swimming lakes nearby with man made clean beaches and grassed play areas. The lakes have designated swimming area’s with separate sectioned off area for non-swimmers and younger children. All these lakes are life guarded in the summer months. All have free parking and toilet facilities, most even have café/restaurants. Some of these lake have diving platforms, canoe’s, kayaks and pedalo’s and children’s play area’s. It’s just like the day at the beach but nicer.
Had the best week staying in this beautiful farmhouse, such a wonderful setting, great facilities and perfect hosts. We hope to return and next time will bring our four legged friend 😃
We were a family of 4 , 2 couples and our dog. The farmhouse was perfect with all the facilities you could ask for. The kitchen was very well equipped. My husband and son made good use of the fishing lake spending many a relaxing afternoon or early evening fishing. Leigh and her husband were the perfect hosts opening up the swimming pool for us and providing helpful advice on local restaurants. In particular Leigh was invaluable taking our son to the doctor and waiting with him that certainly went beyond the call of duty but shows what excellent hosts they are. I can certainly recommend the market at piegut-pluviers and a trip to Brantome with lunch by the river. We were there in early September and made good use of the hot tub and BBQ. We would love to return to the property as the house and setting was great. You need to remember that many restaurants in France only open for lunch in September but spending evenings at the farmhouse enjoying the evening sun on the terrace were idyllic. We throughly recommend the property.
This house is as described on both the HFD and the owners own website. It is well equipped and very comfortable, provides all you need for a large family holiday or as a group of friends. I have marked it down on facilities on the basis that we did not use all that was available so it would not be right to comment what we did use was 5*. Its a bit off the beaten track so if you want a relax away from it all or a full on experience taking part in everything on offer go for it. Most of the major attractions are on average about an hours drive away as are the larger supermarkets. Small shops, bars and places to eat can be found in the village but that's a good walk or a short drive or if you feel fit a short bike ride. Leigh is a great host and will help make sure you have a great stay.
Wow. Cannot fault this accommodation one little bit, it is truly stunning. We booked online and made a judgement on reviews and they could not have been more spot on. We had 2 one year olds and a 4 year old in our party and the facilities for them were amazing (cots, highchairs, stairgates, plastic cups and plates, toys)
The farmhouse, pool and hot tub were spotless and we could not have asked anymore from Leigh and Dave, they were fantastic hosts and went out of their way to ensure our holiday was nothing less than perfect.
The pizza night is a must, we all agreed it was the best pizza we had ever had!!
I would not hesitate to book again or to recommend to friends.
Thank you Leigh and Dave for a wonderful holiday.
Thank you Amy for such a great review, it was lovely to meet you all and thank you for being such brilliant guests. We would love to welcome you back anytime, pizza's are on us. Thank you again and best wishes. Leigh and Dave
