Relax and enjoy the culture and culinary delights of rural France. Le Petit Bijou is set within the grounds of the owners 17th century farmhouse, yet retains privacy with a separate entrance and courtyard with views of and access into the large, level garden.
The gite has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortably furnished lounge/dining area with satellite tv and wood burning stove, double bedroom and bathroom with shower and wc. The gite also has a private barbecue and outside seating area with sun loungers and table and chairs.
The lovely village of Tremolat is a 2 minute level walk and boasts a Michelin star restaurant, bistro, bar/restaurant, two bakeries (one selling some groceries), Post Office, new tea shop and Tourist Office. Tremolat is also an excellent area for outdoor pursuits with its own water sports centre located on the banks of the Dordogne River and only a 5 minute walk from the gite. The centre offers water-skiing as well as canoe, pedalo and surf bike hire and there is a riverside bar/restaurant from which to watch the activities.
We are lucky enough to have a railway station in Tremolat so why not leave the car at home and enjoy a relaxing trip to one of the many lovely surrounding towns and villages. Even the beautiful city of Bordeaux is only a two hour train ride away.
We are ideally situated for discovering the culture and beauty of the Dordogne and there are many historic towns to explore such as Perigueux, Sarlat, Domme and Monpazier which are all within an hour’s drive. Tremolat is less than 30 kms from Les Eyzies-de-Tayac designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and containing several important archaeological sites including the Lascaux cave prehistoric rock dwellings. Even closer at only 7kms is the village of Limeuil classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France.
Tremolat is also a wonderful place for outdoor activities with country walks, fishing, water sports, horse riding and golf all nearby. Cycling is a great way to explore many of the small but delightful villages within the area.
Tremolat itself is a medieval village of enormous charm, and is located beside the Dordogne where it forms a huge 'cingle' or loop. The river etches a large arc and becomes wide enough to be a lake. Close by there are magnificent views over the cingle du Tremolat. There is also a fortified church which testifies to the turbulent history of the area.
Fully equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
Living room/dining area with comfortable seating and wood burner.
1 double bedroom with electric heating.
1 bathroom with shower and wc.
Wood burning stove and electric heating.
Satellite tv, cd player/radio, books and games.

For a special treat why not dine at our local Michelin star restaurant Le Vieux Logis located in Tremolat village.
Le Bassin Nautique is only a short walk from Le Petit Bijou and offers water skiing, canoeing and kayaking.
We spent the last week of June at Le Croix de la Chapelle & it was wonderful. We stayed in the smaller of the 2 gites - Le Petit Bijou. It was perfect for our needs being very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The grounds were beautifully well kept and the village gorgeous (4 minute walk to 2 bakeries and 3 restaurants). It even has a rail station to travel further afield & we had a delightful day in Sarlat by train ! We received a warm welcome from Deborah and would thoroughly recommend this gite - we are booked again for this September.
Many thanks Lynne and Rob - so glad you enjoyed your holiday and looking forward to seeing you again in September!
This is a perfect place to stay for a totally relaxing holiday in the most beautiful setting a two minute walk from a very pretty village, close to the river. Le petit Bijou is the cleanest and one of the best equipped self-catering places we have ever stayed in and the owner, Deborah made us completely welcome and was exceedingly kind and helpful. When our journey down took longer than anticipated, she stayed up until 11pm to welcome us in. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the area but we were happiest relaxing in the shade of the great trees in the garden. There are a few lovely places to eat in the village and the locals were all very welcoming too. We really hope to visit again.
Many thanks for your lovely review - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope to see you again in the future.
