About this property

Detached Perigourdine House, with Outstanding Views . This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

Vézère Vue is situated on the quayside just a few minutes walk from the centre of Le Bugue.
The traditional Perigourdine detached property is one of the first properties to be built on the quayside, and has outstanding views of the River Vézère. It has been renovated in 2016 to an extremely high standard.
The large entrance hall has access to a laundry room with wc and handbasin.  From the hall there is also access to the beautiful bedroom, with views from both windows over the river.  There is a king-sized bed 160 x 200 and there is an exposed stone fireplace and large built in wardrobes. Off the bedroom is the en suite shower room with wc, washbasin and italian shower.
Leading again from entrance hall are large glass panel doors into the open plan kitchen/dining area and lounge, all views again over the River Vézère. The kitchen is very well equipped and there is a large breakfast bar separating the kitchen from the living space.  The dining area is dominated by a beautiful stone fireplace, in the lounge area are two comfy sofas, with tables and lamps. The tv has both English and French channels and there is excellent wi-fi connection.
From the lounge are steps leading down to the large terrace, which has breathtaking views, there is a bbq and table and chairs and also an area for the sunloungers, a wrought iron gate takes you down to the terrace below, where there is also a small table and chairs, from there is access directly out onto the quayside, from here Le Bugue is just a few minutes walk away.
Parking is available on the quayside, which is free and no limitations, there are also free carparks very closeby where you car is in sight of you.

Jackie and David were extremely welcoming and hospitable hosts.
The property was perfect for our needs ,spotless and beautifully decorated
The location was ideal to visit many beautiful villages (we loved Sarlat)and sites and the property itself has a breathtaking view.
Jackie and David recommended many very good restaurants, a particular favourite of ours was Auberge Medieval in Audrix
We would recommend this accommodation to anyone.

The property is in a great location, the view of the river was the best view we have ever had at a rental. It was lovely to see kingfishers and herons. The seating area was a big bonus with views over the river but still private owing to it's raised position.

David, the owner, was very welcoming and the property was well kept and clean. Being English, the English TV was welcome. The owner lives about 10 minutes drive away and offered to come over to sort out anything we needed. There is parking on the quayside in front of the property. There is cracking good creperie at Le Bugue called Creperie L'Abruvoir.

We intend to come back to the area in 2 or 3 years time and will try and stay at this property again.
Things we did and recommend are canoeing along the Dordogne, the superb box gardens of Manoir d'Eyrignac, Christoph caves and further afield the Roman musem at Perigueux.

I would highly recommend this property

It's very hard to find fault with Vezere Vue! A beautiful setting directly above the river, minutes walk from the town centre with two markets (Tuesday and Saturday), restaurants, shops and bars. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean, the gite was a fantastic home-from-home with excellent wi-fi and even British TV. The owners, Jackie and Dave, were very welcoming and always on hand to answer any queries and provide guidance on restaurants and other important issues!

The area is stunning, with so many interesting and beautiful towns, castles, and gardens to visit all within half an hour or so's drive. We particularly enjoyed swimming in the Dordogne river (it was extraordinarily hot) and visits to Domme, Castelnaud, St Leon-sur-Vezere, and the chateau gardens at Campagne. In the evenings we particularly enjoyed passing the time at Chai Monique just down the road. Best lunch was at Le Home, Belves.

We would recommend Vezere Vue very highly and would happily return

Owner response

Thank you for your kind words about Vézère Vue and its surroundings, we very much appreciate you taking the time to do this. The weather was indeed particularly hot for June... We hope to see you again sometime in the future.

We had a wonderful stay at Vézère Vue and compliment the owners on a very sympathetic restoration of this interesting old property. Our stay was over the Christmas and New Year period and we were somewhat unlucky with the weather as all but three days of our stay were cold, wet and foggy but we still had good days out exploring the Vézère and Dordogne valleys. The owners had kindly booked us into the nearby Coueurs Cafe Restaurant for Christmas Day lunch which was excellent. In spite of the disappointing weather we visited many interesting medieval villages in the area and enjoyed some excellent, inexpensive meals out. It was lovely to return to our warm and cosy, well equipped, home from home in the evenings.
The property is ideally located for many tourist attractions that would be open in the summer and is in easy walking distance of at least three boulangeries in Le Bugue for those early morning walks for croissants and the Tuesday market was fascinating and great for buying local produce.
The views over the Vézère River from the house are beautiful and in warm weather it would be wonderful to laze away sunny days on the elevated patio.
