Fantastic And Versatile Accomodation. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Le Roudier first opened its doors to guests in 1996. The current owners, Paul and Dearbhla took over in 2003 and have welcomed many holiday makers from around the globe since then. Le Chai is an ideal cottage for up to 4 people and was originally converted from the old wine store which lends its name 'le chai'.

Paul and Dearbhla have worked on adding to and improving Le Roudier with sympathetic renovation over the years. They have enjoyed making it their home and bringing up their young family in this beautiful and tranquil corner of the Dordogne.

The 300 year old buildings of Le Roudier stand in over 30 acres of glorious Perigordian countryside with fantastic panoramic views across the adjoining valley.

Set in its own 30 acres, it is surrounded by wonderful rolling countryside and yet only a few kilometres from the bastide town of Eymet. Bergerac town is a mere 20 minutes away and the airport provides excellent connections to the UK and Europe. Le Roudier provides an oasis of peace and tranquility for a relaxing holiday, plus a good base for sightseeing and other more active pursuits. For more information click on the tab 'Things to do.'

This beautiful hamlet of Le Roudier comprises of 4 cottages, the main farmhouse and converted bake house. The cottages are centred around the larger of the two swimming pools and can be rented individually or collectively, catering for up to 33 people.

Depending on the size of your party, you can book one or all of the cottages. Share a pool or have exclusive use.

So..... whether you are planning a family/group holiday, weekend break, house-hunting trip or looking for an informal wedding venue, Le Roudier is the place to come.

From the Bastide towns that give perfect backdrops to restaurants and bars to the vast array of activities including canoeing, caving, horse riding, golf, hot air ballooning...
The rich history of the region is everywhere and it allows our visitors to fully immerse themselves in the relaxed tempo of French life. Le Roudier offers many on site facilities and being situated within over 30 acres of private gardens, woodland and pastureland, this retreat can be as relaxing or energetic as you choose. The football pitch to the North side of the gardens is a safe place for the children to expend their energy and the fantastic 14m x7m roman ended pool and terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the panoramic views across the valley which forms the Southern boundary.

Garden and outside

The cottages at Le Roudier have their own terrace areas, bbqse and outside furniture. In addition to that, guests benefit from the established gardens, fields and woodland that makes up over 30 acres of the property.
For the more energetic, the football pitch provides an open area to play whilst the lower fields have oaks, willow and shaded paths within the grounds that lend themselves to more quiet pursuits.
Paths and bridleways that run through Le Roudier are a great way to explore the immediate area and they are packed full of native wildlife and flora. Varieties of deer and boar frequent the gardens along with an enormous array of birdlife.
As the heat of the day relents and the sun slips quietly behind the horizon, what better way to relax than to take a stroll down one of the wooded paths lined with wild orchids.

Visitor suitability

The rural location does mean that private transport is required as taxi and buses can be expensive and unreliable.
Some of the facilities have been made wheelchair friendly and access to the pool, terrace and summer kitchen is all on one level. Full details can be supplied on request.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Paul Smith

Dearbhla and Paul have been living in the Dordogne since 2003 and have 2 children that were born in France. Formally an engineer in the UK, Paul has worked all over Europe and lived for 3 years in Germany before moving to France. Dearbhla's past life, working in the City of London seems eons away from their current routines, set in the beautiful rural setting in this fantastic corner of the Perigordian countryside. Only 20 mins from Bergerac and its airport, Le Roudier is a real paradise.
