|Unique benefits of property||La Maison du Lac is on the ‘route de vin’ which offers guests the chance to tour vin yards and sample local wines! However, if wine is not your thing you will find a market every day of the week offering a wonderful choice of fresh foods, from fruits and herbs to fresh seafood and locally produced olives! For a more active holiday there is also kayaking on the Dordogne and Gardonne rivers with several courses to suit all levels, cycling, horse-riding and tree fun parks to name but a few! If you love sitting on the beach then the Lac de Gurson at only 5minutes by car is the place to be. It has swimming with lifeguard, a beautiful large sandy beach set among forests, restaurants and bars, children’s play area, horse riding and much more.|
We are surrounded by wonderful vineyards, many of whom will happily give you a tour and a tasting!
Only a few kilometres away you will find the sandy beach of Lac de Gurson. Here you can swim, eat, play and relax.
There are many markets in the region on everyday of the week. We can give you all the information during your stay. During July and August there are numerous night markets where you can taste local products and mix with natives.
And if you are looking for good shopping you have quaint, historic Bergerac only 25 minutes to the south and beautiful. Charming, cosmopolitan Bordeaux 55 minutes to the west.
Cottage was everything we could have wished for. We stayed in February, during a particularly cold spell, however the log burner kept everywhere really warm (loads of logs supplied) so we can certainly recommend a stay here for an out of season holiday.
The welcome pack was a lovely addition.
We didn't get the chance to experience any of the local amenities hence the lower score.
The lake walk looked inviting and if the weather had been better we would have enjoyed a stroll around it and into the surrounding countryside.
Thank you Tracey for a great stay.
Thank you, glad you had a nice time and were cosy and warm with the log burner.
Good luck with your venture.
We have just returned from a fabulous week at la Maison du Lac. It is simply stunning. It is also incredibly relaxing and peaceful. The gite is amazingly equipped and Tracey has thought of everything! The welcome box is verybthoightfully brimming! It has been immaculately renovated and beautifully decorated and furnished. Our 10 year old was delighted to have his own en suite as well as a king size bed... as was the toddler to have his own cot and bath!! Tracey provided stair gates as well as a cot and high chair which was fantastic! The welcome folder is full of information about the surrounding area and Tracey is close by if you have any other questions. She even printed out a local running route for me so that I didn't get lost! It really is a very special place. The outdoor dining area is gorgeous and wonderfully shaded. The saltwater pool was lovely on hot summer days and the pool alarm and gate ensured that, as parents of a toddler, we could relax without forever dreading an unexpected splash! The boys had fun fishing in the lake and although not successful, they will try again on the next visit! We loved it so much that we only left to go shopping, visit a vineyard and a trip to St. Emillion. La Maison du Lac is one of those places that you want to tell everyone about... but at the same time keep a secret so that you can go whenever you want!! If you have booked already we are sure you will have wonderful time. We just can't wait until next year as we hope to return.
Thank you for your lovely comments and for the card and bubbles! We would love to welcome you back you were perfect guests. Keep an eye on the site as lots of bookings for 2018 already.
We have just returned from the Gite at La Maison du Lac. This is a brand new purpose build barn conversion next to the owners property and we were privileged to be the first guests. The property is large and spacious and designed, finished and furnished to a high standard. If you have booked then you are in for a treat.
As you arrive you enter, through double wooden gates, your own private gravel courtyard. Within the courtyard there is a beautiful outside dining area, a gorgeous comfy sitting corner and further double gates leading to a bright white terrace and sparkling pool, with views across the fishing lake and garden. There is a fantastic BBQ and pots with flowers and other nice decorative touches that give a feeling of comfort and luxury. Around the pool are a selection of loungers and quality pool towels are provided.
The house opens onto the courtyard and is immaculate. Downstairs is a open plan space with beautiful furnishings and all the equipment you could need. Its is bright and light but remains cool. Upstairs is gorgeous, with 4 large bedrooms, lovely wooden floors, exposed beams and finished to perfection. Beds are new and comfortable with nice linen and towels provided. There are 2 en-suite shower rooms and a lovely bathroom. It is a seriously delightful space. You will not be disappointed.
The fishing lake and grounds are lovely and we caught several fish.
Thank you so much for this fabulous review and such great feedback. You were perfect guests and we look forward to seeing you again! You never know the boys might get the one that got away next time! :)
