About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Melanie Baker

My husband Richard is a Systems Manager, who enjoys doing DIY and has undertaken lots of work to the cottage.<br/>I work in HR and have helped with some of the internal and external painting of the cottage, but I prefer the interior design side and have enjoyed putting the soft furnishings together and deciding on the colour schemes.

Year property purchased 2011
Why this location? We have owned the cottages since October 2011. We fell in love with the pretty village of Saint Genies and were so lucky to find these cottages. We love the lifestyle and the laid back culture and being in the heart of the Dordogne. Our girls enjoy the fairytale castles and the boat trips along the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Our particular favourite is Sarlat which is only 10 minutes by car, with its vast selection of cafe bars, all child friendly.
The Dordogne Marked Trails Network has become one of the best in the world. You can easily explore the whole Dordogne on foot, following the very well marked trails. They usually follow ancient paths used by traders more than a 1000 years ago. The trails will take you through medieval villages, giving you a chance to explore, have a bite to eat and grab a drink. There are many trails around St Genies and Sarlat.
In the Dordogne it doesn’t matter if you want to do an hours hike or a full day hike, the trails will take you there.
Unique benefits of property There's nothing better than enjoying a glass of red wine with some cheese and fresh baguette, sat outside on the veranda watching the sun set, once the girls have gone to bed or having a family bbq. It is such a peaceful and ideal setting, surrounded by beautiful countryside, you really do find yourself unwinding quite easily from the stresses of work and daily life back home.
