Ken and Linda bought Les Lavandes in 1996 and since then have set about systematically improving the property, accommodation and facilities. A while ago we turned a storage area into our one bedroom apartment, La Vigne, which gave us another letting property exclusively for couples. We like to think that we have got the mix right here as many of our visitors come back year after year. We have met some amazing people and have made lasting friendships.
|Year property purchased||1996|
|Why this location?||We are in the centre of the Golden Triangle of Perigueux, Bergerac and Sarlat, close to the river and everything this beautiful region has to offer.|
|Unique benefits of property||We are one kilometer from the main road giving a safe environment for children. All of our properties face in different directions and are not overlooked by their neighbors.|
Le Bournat is a theme-village showing life as it was in rural France around about the year of 1900. Each building has been equipped with authentic tools, machines and furniture of the era and as you walk round you can visit wood carvers, potters, basket weavers, knife sharpeners, clog-makers and lots more.
To make it even more interesting each of these has people carrying out these trades using the tools of 1900. It is fascinating to see.
We have been come to France for many years, and this year we gave in to our normal adult only holiday, and it was the best decision we made. The atmosphere was so friendly and alive, the gite was next to the pool which for us was perfect, and comfort wise, like I told our wonderful friendly hosts, the two armchairs we used in the gite were so very comfortable t allowed us to enjoy a late night film without complaint, and the bed, it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on when being away from home, and we put that down to the length of time we actually slept. The grounds that you were allowed to walk freely around were just lovely, it's just such a shame we only had 2 weeks there as neither of us wanted to leave.
Ken the owner saved me from severe pain by taking me personally to the chemist and explaining the situation as he spoke French, and for a fee I had the medication I was missing. he saved me from I don't know how much extra pain, but I thank him so much and with all my heart.
If your a dog lover as we are, it is nice to see the owners 2 small dogs walking around, Wallace always said hello to us.
We are looking to purchase a house in the area, but if we have not, we will be going back next year, for sure.
