The Owner Recommends

For a very special experience, the Michelin starred Vieux Logis in the village.
There are also other restaurants in the village and two ferme auberges just outside the village.

Canoeing down the Dordogne

Canoe down the Dordogne from many different locations on a sunny day and marvel at the chateaux and ancient villages on the river banks.

Every day of the week there are fabulous French markets to visit to shop as the french do, or just to take in the ambiance.

Do as many of our guests have done over the years and just chill In our lovely south facing garden and enjoy the sunshine or relax under the shade of the catalpa tree

This region is called the land of a 1001 chateaux, so there are are plenty of castles to visit.
Two of our personal favorites are Beynac castle ( once owned by Richard the lionheart) and Chateau des Millandes most famously the home of Josephine Baker.

Just to the rear of our house there are beautiful secluded walking trails that lead you up into the hills above Tremolat for a true taste of the French countryside and possibly a picnic.

Les Cireys is a beautiful apartment below the owners' house, a grand, historic building overlooking the village of Tremolat. Well appointed and stylishly decorated by our genial hosts Lindsay and Geoff, the cosy bedroom is above the dining area and kitchen (with its views of the garden), and the large living room is lovely for relaxing in front of the telly (complete with UK channels). The layout and substantial walls result in a great deal of privacy despite being part of the same building. The delightful large garden is for the sole use of the guests, while the private terrace is a fantastic place to watch the sun go down. It's less than ten minutes' walk down a country lane into the village with its selection of restaurants. A couple of kilometres drive from the Cingle de Tremolat, it's also handy for many of the region's finest sights - 30-40 minutes to Bergerac, Lez Eyzies (for cave art), La Roque-Gageac, canoe centres and the chateaux of Beynac, Milandes and Castelnaud. We’d happily return.

A lovely gite in a superb location for exploring the Dordogne. The property is full of character and so comfortable; we stayed for a week in May and loved sitting out in the beautiful garden enjoying some of the local wines. It's a quiet, peaceful location and perfect for whiling away those lazy afternoons.
The village of Tremolat is just a five minute stroll and is a real haven for foodies... a Michelin starred restaurant, a bistro, a pizzeria - all serving delicious food and great value for money. The surrounding countryside is stunning and there is so much to do in easy reach - from the local hypermarche to canoeing on the river, visiting castles or magical caves.
