Fongrive Haut is an elegant and delightfully restored farmhouse offering accommodation of up to eight people with its own private heated pool, sun terraces and patios. It is spacious and offers very comfortable accommodation for family groups or friends holidaying together. It is very well equipped and will satisfy all your needs for a lovely holiday. The house has about one acre of garden together with terraces and patios that have delightful and extensive views.
There are three bedrooms comprising of two large doubles and one twin. In addition, there is a cot and high chair and two single beds in the 2nd reception room for an additional two guests, if required. The house has en-suite facilities in two bedrooms plus a family bathroom and a separate wc. There is an elegant lounge with comfortable seating with a television showing all British free-to-air channels including all BBC regional programme so you can keep up to date with the news in your area.
The spacious farmhouse kitchen/dining room is the hub of the house. The kitchen area is fully equipped and the dining table is able to seat up to 10 people comfortably. There is also a tv/games room that has further seating with French television, various board games, books and a few cds. Outside there is ample garden furniture, a charcoal bbq and a table tennis table, bats and balls. If you are feeling energetic, there are six bicycles to use. The villa has stunning views of the surrounding countryside and you will experience some glorious sunsets. Fongrive Haut benefits from full central heating in winter together with an efficient log burning stove. The house also has wifi to connect to the internet with your own equipment.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas/electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine. In addition, there are ample supplies of crockery, cutlery, glassware and everything else you will need for your holiday.
The kitchen/diner has a large central table that can accommodate up to 10 persons.
The elegant lounge has comfortable seating and a tv showing all British free-to-air channels including all BBC regional programme so you can keep up to date with the news in your area.
The lounge has a door onto the front patio where most evenings you can see a glorious sun-set.
From the lounge there is a second reception room with various games and a library.
Lake View and Chateau View bedrooms are located on ground floor. Each has a large fitted wardrobe and both have a large five foot double bed. Both bedrooms have double aspect views.
The lake view bedroom has an en-suite facility (wc, basin and shower) and the Chateau View bedroom has a family bathroom (bath/shower, basin and wc) adjacent.
The tower bedroom is on the first floor and has twin beds and its own wc and wash basin. In addition, there are two single beds 2nd reception room that will sleep an additional two persons if required.

Oil fired central heating plus two log burners. This equipment can only be used with the prior consent of the owners.

There are two terraces, the south is covered and the west is open thus giving plenty of space for outside dining. There are extensive views of the lovely countryside to the east, south and west where the sunsets are stunning. There are two steps to access the front door.
The villa is set in about 2500 square metres of garden where the 9m by 4m private pool (depth 1.25m) is situated surrounded by a paved sun terrace. The pool is open May to Mid-October and is heated to around a minimum of 26 degrees.
Parking for numerous cars is available in the specific area to the side of the house.
The house is very suitable for your visitors to visit and spend the day with you.
My wife and I love to visit France and to now own a property is a dream come true. Fongrive Haut has given us, our family, friends and guests many years of enjoyment, happiness and lovely memories.

|Why this location?||This location whilst rural is not remote and has many lovely Bastide towns and the river Dordogne in easy reach. The scenery is splendid with rolling hills each giving panoramic views of the lovely countryside. The fields are planted with vines as this is principle wine growing region of the Dordogne and also the land is used for arable farming.|

There are numerous vineyards in the area and we are located on the Bergerac wine trail. Each of the vineyards on the trial are delighted to welcome guests for wine tasting and wine purchase!
Fongrive is within 5 kms of Chateau Vigier that offers a first class course and amenities. There are four golf trolleys at the house for the use of guests.
All the above amenities are available in the Bergerac area around a 20 minute drive from the house.
These lovely towns date from the 13th century and there are many in the surrounding area. Eyment, Monpazier, Monflanquin, St Emillion are outstanding with many beautiful buildings and town squares. Other towns such as Sarlat and Rocamadour are also worth a visit.
This mighty river flows through the area and offers many water based activities such as river trips, canoeing, swimming or just lovely walks. The river banks and its valley hold many lovely chateaux that are open for the public to explore.
These gems are scattered around the central area of the Dordogne. The first known Frenchmen lived here 22,000 years ago! Lascaux is probably the most famous but there are many more in the Vezere valley within easy reach of Fongrive.
The region's capital city is about 90 minutes by car and well worth a visit. The city has grand avenues, stylish civic buildings and monuments and a cathedral. There is a park and ride scheme for easy access to the centre.
One of the reasons we chose this property was a heated swimming pool in view of late August early September holiday when temperatures a lot cooler.
Regret the swimming pool heater broke down prior to our arrival and apart from day of arrival when air temperature was high and water temperature ok, we were unable to use the pool subsequently as water became too cold.
We too have been very disappointed that the pool heater was not working. We were told a few days before our guests arrived that the heater could not be repaired and a replacement has now been ordered. However, this process is likely to take at least three weeks as unfortunately matters take longer to complete in rural France but there again, the gentle pace of life is one of its attractions.
