About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Susan Etherton

This is a terrible photo! I have lived here for 16 years and run the property with my business partner Catherine O'Brien. We know the area very well and speak French. We had both previously worked in the public sector in the UK before arriving here. So we understand stress! AND how to de-stress! We hope to offer lovely relaxing place to stay.

Year property purchased 2002
Why this location? Easy access to transportation. Bergerac airport 33km, Bordeaux airport 55kms and TGV station 33kms. As well as being beautiful and an excellent climate.
Unique benefits of property The blissfully peaceful environment. No road noise only birdsong. Great place for bird spotting, if you've never seen a hoopee or nightingale this is your place.
Then of course there is the wine! This is the largest and most famous wine region in France and it's on our doorstep! We can organise wine tastings at a small local organic vineyard, always a fun evening. No short measures here and it's free. Saint Emilion is just a short drive away too for the higher end wines.
We love to have dogs stay, it is a very safe environment. If you do have escape artists we do have a portable fence we can put up........only suitable for small or lighter dogs.
We have the largest domestic pool in the area! 16x14m. It has a safe shallow end for small children and non-swimmers and is alarmed for children safety. Open mid-May until mid Sept (weather allowing).
Jacuzzi for the adults available April to Oct.

The Owner Recommends

Markets

Pretty much one every day of the week within driving distance. Biggest at Libourne Sundays and St Foy la Grande on Saturdays.

Saint Emilion

The UNESCO World heritage site of Saint Emilion is just a short distance from us 16 kms. This is a great day out for all ages, as it is not just about wine tasting. There is a small road train that takes you out and around the vineyards, great for small and big people alike! You can go under the city to the catacombs and explore the history of it's beginnings or climb the towers and overlook the valleys and countryside. AND then you can go wine tasting!

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is an amazing city and packed full of things to do for all age groups. Just one hours drive you can Park & Ride for just 4.50 for the day and this includes your tram tickets in and out of Bordeaux for up to 5 people. Bargain!
Or you can take the train from nearby which takes 40 minutes.

Dune du Pilat

The largest sand dune in Europe............unbelievable views. It is an experience to climb this. Just 1.5hrs drive.

Bastide Towns

We are located in the countryside where the last battle of the Hundred Years War took place. There are numerous Bastide Towns within short distances of us. One of the best preserved is Issigeac, a smaller scale Sarlat. It also has a great Sunday morning market.

Arc en Ciel is a lovely rustic gite set in idyllic countryside surrounded by vines and fields. The garden is full of flowering shrubs and fruit trees and best of all has a large pool. We all loved cooling off in the pool every day. The owners, who live in the B&B next to the gite, were so friendly and helpful. They arranged a lovely day out canoeing on the Dordogne and a wine tasting with a local vineyard owner. The gite itself is comfortable and had plenty of space for 4 adults and 3 kids. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I thoroughly recommend this property,
