Testimonials:

Excellent family house in great location

We had our annual family holiday here with 14 members ranging from 78 to twins aged 8 and all enjoyed a super week. The house is even better that the listing which does not do it justice. It was spotless and had masses of equipment and room for the whole family. Lots of activities in and outside with the pool and croquet court being the two favourites. The town/village is very near and the shops provided all we needed. Location is excellent. We found Karen and Jason very friendly and helpful. We definitely would recommend this property.

Dear Barry

I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say we had a lovely time at Les Amandiers during the summer holidays.

It worked perfectly for our group and Karen was very helpful with her suggestions for day trips etc.

Jason mentioned you were working on another project and we would be interested in hearing about it for future holidays.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Barry Spencer

I bought Les Amandiers in 1988 after it had been totally restored by the previous owners. Since then I have been adding character and improving the grounds, both for my own enjoyment and that of visiting guests. I have an architectural salvage and reclamation yard in England and am always on the lookout for period furniture and antiques with which to furnish the house so it is in keeping with times gone by rather than a contemporary style.

Year property purchased 1988
Why this location? Les Amandiers is in a peaceful, rural location surrounded by ancient forest. It is in a beautiful, elevated position overlooking the Dordogne scenery.

The 18th Century manoir and three self contained apartments/gites sit within 35 acres of land, which includes a private 11m x 5m swimming pool, walled garden, orchard, lake, tennis court and cut grass areas for playing ball games; plenty of room for large groups to explore the surroundings and enjoy the outdoors.

The local village, Villamblard, is about a 10 minute walk away down the hill (or you can borrow a bike!). It's a pretty village with all the basic amenities you're likely to need (bakery, convenience store, Post Office, pharmacy, etc.). Supermarkets in Mussidan are only about a 20 minute drive away.
Unique benefits of property The property sleeps 20 people with another couple of fold-out beds for small children also available. This makes it an ideal venue for large groups looking to get away and spend some quality time together, but with plenty of outdoor space and different rooms for people to pass time in away from the crowd if they prefer.

The manoir has a library stocked with a vast number and range of books and the games room is a great space for children and adults to enjoy.

We are able to provide assistance with arrangements ahead of your stay and there are guardians on site to help during your stay.
