About this property

Near Sarlat, Impeccably Clean Farmhouse With Views. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Les gites de La Ferme de La Tour is a beautifully situated, ensemble of honey coloured stone buildings dating back to the 16th century, close to Sarlat and in the heart of Perigord Noir, Dordogne. We offer La Ferme, a lovingly restored, and immaculately presented farmhouse situated at La Ferme de La Tour.
La Ferme is the largest of five accommodations situated at La Ferme de La Tour which is a ten minute drive from the centre of Sarlat.

La Ferme is a three bedroom, two bathroom farmhouse full of beams and exposed stone walls.

The farmhouse (with great wi-fi reception throughout ) was built in the 17th century and was constructed with stone sourced from the neighbouring chateau when it was partly demolished for tax reasons.

Every room has heavily beamed ceilings and elements of exposed stone. With a southerly aspect the house is sunny, light and airy and has the most beautiful covered balcony with table, chairs and twinkly lights. Down the stone steps from the balcony is the large terrace area with views to die for, stretching over the pool and large gardens to the Dordogne valley and beyond. In fact the furthest point we have identified on the skyline is 37 kms away.

La Ferme de La Tour once served as the farm, belonging to the neighbouring historical chateau. Surrounded by magnificent countryside, and a network of pretty footpaths, it has been lovingly restored to provide spacious, high quality, self catering, holiday cottages ( gites ) and a large chlorine free swimming pool shared between the accomodation.

The large chlorine free pool is heated by the means of solar power and is perfectly sited to maximise the sunshine and views across the garden and valley.. The garden is 10,000m2 with plenty of hidden corners, shady trees, and room to run around.

Situated in the heart of Perigord Noir, we are in the most scenic region of the Dordogne, in an area known locally as the golden triangle. The location is ideal for the perfect self catering holiday with all of the most beautiful sites and scenery of the Dordogne and Lot on our doorstep.

We are close to Sarlat (10kms) yet situated in a rural position with surrounding grounds of woodland and meadow. The breathtaking views over the Dordogne valley will overwhelm you with a feeling of peace and tranquillity. Within the hamlet of La Tour, we are just two minutes from the pretty village of Sainte Nathalene with a bar, hotel, depot pain (bakery outlet), restaurants and a small shop.

The historical town of Sarlat-la-Caneda, with more listed buildings than any other town in Europe, is just seven miles away. Sarlat has an all year round twice weekly market and a wonderful choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. An array of street entertainment and a full calendar of events makes Sarlat a visit you should not miss when in the Dordogne. There are also numerous chateaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through.

The area also offers a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages.. These include walking, canoeing down the Dordogne river (an absolute must), golfing, inland swimming lakes and beaches, tennis, air parks, cycling, mountain biking, quad biking, para gliding, water parks, paint ball, karting, horse riding, hot air ballooning, wine tasting trips, etc etc.

Our self catering gite accommodation is available to let/rent all year round for holiday's in and out of season. All our houses/villas have full wi-fi with great reception.

We welcome couples and families alike. Due to the stairs and the terrain we do not feel we can cater for children under five years of age, the elderly or the infirm. We do not accept pets.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Kate Waters

We are a family of four who moved to Sarlat in 2004 in search of a new life and new challenges. Well we certainly found both ... A new life and a lot of challenges. We have enough funny stories and experiences to fill a book and now have a great lifestyle and a business in which we take great pride and enjoy sharing it with others.

Year property purchased 2004
Why this location? We moved lock stock and barrel to the Sarlat area in 2004, buying a set of empty farm buildings that needed far too much work. But the position and the views had us hooked and nothing came anywhere near a close second. So here we are, several years have past and the renovation and transformation completed, but not without some real highs and lows and a vast collection of stories and experiences. The position is magical and just not possible to capture in a picture.
Unique benefits of property We have been extremely lucky to find a property with such a formula of character, views and location. We are close to Sarlat, which is the jewel of the Dordogne, yet in a truly rural setting in stunning countryside.
