There are several places where you can swim in the river:
Between Tocane and Montagrier
On road from Montagrier to Tocane, take turning to right at the bottom of the hill. It is signposted ‘Gandy’. Go straight on (slightly to the left) at the mini junction and car park is on your right under trees.Good to take river shoes (or crocs work well) if you want to paddle in the river as it has stony bottom. Can also cross over the little bridge and walk along the weir and swim in the deeper water on your left.
This is on the road towards Lisle (left out of Roufiat, right at crossroads, straight on at diagonal junction. Right at next crossroads and first left after grain silo). Also you can continue into Lisle at the river bridge.

Things to do (brief recap)
Some people want to come to Roufiat to get away from it all and not do much of anything other than lounge by the pool, enjoy the view and eat nice food. Others like to take the opportunity to do some sports, and others want to explore the Dordogne. If you do want to get out and about, here are some suggestions of things you can do in the area – there is more information provided in the ‘Roufiat Tourist Guide’ left in the house.
Supermarkets in Tocane (Inter Marche) on the way out of town towards Perigueux.
Also a very big supermarket Auchan on the outskirts of Perigueux – 20min drive away – turn right at the first big roundabout that you come too. Or in the opposite direction in Riberac - E.Leclerc
CASH POINT is inside Credit Agricol - top end of the central square in Tocane.
Tocane on Monday morning.
Riberac on Friday mornings – very good must go.
Brantome also has a market on a Friday.
Montagrier – Auberge – staff can speak English.
St Victor – by the church – good but pricy.
Café Rouge – Tocane - English speaking.
Brantome – must visit this town – best in the evening – lots of restaurants.
Perigueux – the main city of the region – must visit the old town – lots of restaurants.
Lilse – Moulin de Pont – restaurant just by the bridge woverlooking the weir.
SWIMMING POOLS - Riberac has a large public very good outdoor pool – worth a visit – information available in the house. Can take a picnic on certain days (check which) and stay all day.
RIVER –head through Montagrier village towards Tocane - on the sharp bend (below the church) at the sign posted ‘Gandy’ - turn right down the hill - carry on down and at the cross road slight turn to the left but straight over and after about 300m parking is on the right.
Also at the river by the bridge in Lisle there’s a sandy beach and at Renemon before Lisle.
CYCLE - (VTT) nationally renowned routes all over the place
This is a fantastic gite in the middle of the Dordogne countryside!
If you want somewhere with absolute peace and quite and great views then this will be ideal.
We went with my 3 teenage+ sons and we loved sitting by the Pool and in the spacious garden, reading and watching some Ashes cricket on Sky Go!
You will have to drive to the nearby shops - 10 mins to a Boulangerie and a bit further to a supermarket and petrol station.
Property was clean when we arrived and Peter sent us detailed instructions on the gite and what to do in the area.
