We are Rachel & Chris Jones, & our daughter Ellie. We have lived in the Dordogne for more than a decade & love the French way of life, the local food & wine, & the amazing cycling! This year, 2019, we excitedly began our new venture "Petit-Gite-Eymet". Our aim is to offer excellent holiday accommodation, with everything that guests need for a super stay. Our family home is just a 5 minute drive from the property and so, in the unlikely event of any problems, we are close at hand to help!

|Why this location?||Eymet is in SW France, the Dordogne region, just 20kms south of Bergerac. Eymet is a pretty, medieval, market town with a choice of three boulangeries, many café-bars and restaurants, a tourist information office, a pharmacy, supermarket etc. The town holds a very popular year-round weekly market as well as night markets and gourmet food markets during the height of Summer. Surrounding Eymet is beautiful, wine-making countryside. During July/August fields of sunflowers, too, are in abundance!
Popular activities for holidaymakers include vineyard tours and wine tasting, food markets, dining out, chateaux visits, visits to caves, rambling, cycling, horse-riding, hot-air ballooning, kayaking on the Dordogne river, and simply kicking back and relaxing whilst soaking up the French ambiance! The towns of Bergerac, Perigueux, St Emilion, Sarlat & Bordeaux are all well worth a visit.

Enjoy the magical Bordeaux and Perigueux Christmas Markets and Ice-Rinks. Bordeaux Christmas market dates 27 Nov - 29 Dec 2019.
Perigueux Christmas market dates 8 Dec 2019 - 5 Jan 2020.
Eymet holds a popular year-round weekly market on Thursday mornings.
This fabulous French foodie market is a must in July and August. Popular with locals and holidaymakers. Simply choose your seats on long, dining tables in the shade of chestnut trees and then buy your food and wine from local producers. Such a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
This crowd-funded local vineyard is excellently run and well worth a visit to see the wine making process and taste the wine! Pique-niques amongst the vines are an option. The vineyard also hold Friday evening BBQ/live music events during the Summer months.
This is a great way to spend a day, and very popular with families. We recommend the canoe/kayak rentals at Le Pont de Vicq, Le Buisson de Cadouin. They will take you upstream by minibus, you choose the distance/time, and then you paddle down river with the current.
There are lovely, grassy "beaches" on the banks of the Dordogne too, with shallow, gentle water for little ones who want to make rock pools.
Just 15 minutes from Eymet, this enchanting chateau offers visitors more than 100 medieval games. Great fun for all the family!
Beautiful chateau and grounds, once Josephine Baker's home. A day trip that won't disappoint! Very good brasserie/restaurant and falconry display within the grounds of the chateau.
La Cour d'Eymet is a stylish French restaurant, recommended by Michelin (and us!). Located on the main road through Eymet, the restaurant has a pretty courtyard. Fixed price lunch and dinner menus are available. It's a special event, or holiday treat, restaurant.
Very popular Italian restaurant within Eymet's medieval square. Family friendly, half portions available for children. Open everyday for lunch and dinner from mid March to mid November.
Peruvian restaurant in Eymet's medieval square. Freshly cooked, really tasty food. Set in an old, stone, characterful building and spilling outside in the Summer.
We stayed for 1 week beginning of October. We chose this gite as we wanted to be close to a village as had my mother with us. It's always a gamble with location, but this really is 5 min walk into Eymet!
The gite was lovely. The beds were very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen and lounge had all the facilities you expect and of a very high standard. A few games and even films recorded for your leisure. The wood burner looked amazing but we did not need to use it (unfortunately in a way!) Outside was extremely relaxing. Good size pool, table tennis (to work of that wine and cheese) and a few other games. The tree hammock seat was amazing. Perfect place to chill with a glass of wine!
Although we were so close to Eymet, it was very peaceful and relaxing.
Eymet is a thriving village all year through and so there was a number of restaurants and bars open which was great. My favourite is the pizza Italian. Does not just do Italian, but every meal we had was delicious. They even do takeaway which we also indulged in! 2 Brocantes in the village and the Market is open on a Thursday which was great.
Only met Rachel on arrival but did have communication whilst there. Very helpful and friendly and would certainly recommend to anyone who is thinking of visiting this area.
Thank you Rachel 😁
Thanks very much Jo for leaving such a comprehensive review. I'm delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your late summer stay in Eymet.
We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday at Petit Gite Eymet.
The gite is absolutely first class , it is decorated beautifully and really had everything you need. The wonderful owners really care.
We have so enjoyed this holiday the setting is perfect , you are so close to walk into Eymet but still in a quiet country setting .The pool was such a relief from the hot weather and the children and ourselves had hours of fun
Do not hesitate to book you really won’t be disappointed it’s a little piece of heaven.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed a magical holiday.
Charming property within easy walking distance to the town of Eymet. The gite was extremely clean and very well presented with the lovely touch of a thoughtful welcome basket. Everything has been thought of to make your stay more comfortable.
Hosts on hand but not obtrusive.
We will definitely consider a return trip!!
We are delighted that you enjoyed a comfortable stay, and hope to welcome you back to the Dordogne soon!
We booked Petit-Gite-Eymet for our annual holiday in the Dordogne. The photos attracted us, but the property is even better in reality. We also were looking for a place that offered us the option to dine in or out, and the easy walk to the Bastide town of Eymet suited us perfectly. Eymet is beautiful, it's markets are lively, and the town has a good choice of cafe-bars and restaurants, including La Cour d'Eymet which is Michelin recommended!
The property was very well equipped with attention to detail. It felt like a home from home. It was very clean and well-maintained, and the pool was sparklingly clear. The owners, Chris and Rachel, are friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend Petit-Gite-Eymet to our friends, and look forward to returning ourselves.
