About this property

Luxury Holiday Apartment With Free Parking On-site. This apartment is in a town setting.

Ideally located, luxuriously furnished, thoughtfully equipped and private, you will be glad you booked the Monet apartment from the moment you arrive.

Monet is one of four holiday apartments at Maison Pierre D'Or, a traditional stone house on the edge of the medieval centre of Sarlat in the stunning Perigord Noir region of Dordogne in south west France.

Monet is the perfect base from which to explore the town and its surrounding countryside. It's ideal for couples (although suitable for up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children) and is within an easy stroll to the medieval centre with its markets, bistros, picturesque squares and historic buildings.

This apartment has a large south facing terrace which is perfect for al fresco living. It has a garden view and is bedecked with oleander, geraniums and jasmine, making it a private place to sunbathe, read and enjoy a meal any time of the day. Attention has been paid to the details. The apartment is furnished to a high standard throughout with great looking light oak furniture. There are quirky lamps, paintings by a local artist and a host of personal touches making Monet our most popular apartment. There is a warm and inviting living room, a large dining table and a well equipped kitchen, including a Nespresso coffee maker. The bedroom has an exceptionally comfortable king size bed with fresh crisp cotton linen and soft pillows. The bathroom has an Italian shower with a powerful shower head, hot water on tap and fluffy towels. The TV receives French and English channels.

Oh, and there is free parking on site with free wi-fi (high speed Internet). Free high-speed Internet

Kitchen and dining

There is a modern kitchen in the apartment. It includes, fridge freezer, oven and hob, washing machine and dishwasher, as well as plenty of space to prepare meals.

It is equipped with all the crockery and cutlery and pots and pans that you will need for you holiday. There is a coffee press and espresso maker, and recently we bought a Nespresso maker. There is a great coffee shop in Sarlat, off the square, the brulerie, where they roast and blend the coffees.

Monet has a dining table for 4 in the sejour, and another table and 4 chairs on the terrace. The terrace is south facing and makes a great place to eat al fresco.

Living rooms

The living room leads off the terrace through French doors. There is a large sofabed and sitting area with tv, with channels in both French and English. At the far end there is a dining area.

It is very comfortable and there is a view of the garden.

There is one bedroom with a king size bed and very comfortable mattress. The bed is freshly made prior to your arrival. We have Egyptian cotton bedding and a range of beautiful duvet covers. We supply fresh bedding after a week, where bookings are more than 8 nights.

We have decorated the bedroom with new oak furniture. It is a very comfortable, and relaxing room.

We have silent fans in each apartment, which allow you to sleep with the windows open and to stay cool.

The bathroom was completely refitted in 2017. It has a walk-in Italian shower, and a wc and washbasin. There are shelves and places to put your things.

We provide a bathsheet, hand towel and facecloth per person. These are lovely big fluffy towels. We provide clean towels each week.

There is central heating. If the temperature drops the heating comes on for 2 hours in the morning and from early evening.

There is a mobile air conditioning unit which is available in the hot summer months should you require it.

Sarlat is a medieval town and is full of historical buildings to look round. There are tours with guides who can speak your language. In the squares there are street entertainers throughout the season.

There are dozens of restaurants and bars, and shops. The market on Saturday runs through the town. You can buy everything from gifts and crafts to food and clothes. The Wednesday market sells mostly local produce.

Entertainment in the apartment includes free wifi, a tv with programmes in both French and English, some German and American channels too. There is a dvd player with a number of dvds.

Garden and outside

There is a large, private terrace outside the Monet apartment. This is south facing and there is always a sunny spot to eat, or sunbathe, or read and relax. There are two Adirondack chairs on the terrace, with footrests.

There is a table and four chairs where you can eat, drink from breakfast into the evening, as you wish.

The terrace overlooks the garden, but is partly shaded for part of the day by a large magnolia tree which also keeps the terrace private. We have put deck chairs and sun loungers on the grass in the garden, if you want to have more space. There is also a bbq on the bamboo terrace for you to use whenever you want.

Parking and garages

There is parking for 4 cars. A space for each apartment, next to the house. There are two spaces on the drive and two on the hard standing at the side of the house.

The front of the house is on Rue Jean Leclaire, and there is a gate from the garden that you can take to walk down to the centre. But by car, from the bottom of Rue Jean Leclaire, take the first turn to the left on to Cote de Ravat, first left again, on to Rue Roger Bissiere, and first left again on to Lieu dit Roc Bediere, where Maison Pierre D'Or is on the right.

Visitor suitability

The apartments are ideal for couples, but the Monet apartment has dining for 4 and you are welcome to invite friends back during the day/evening. However, it is not appropriate for parties.

There are guests in the other apartments, and we ask that everyone respects each other's space. Most guests like the peace and quiet.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Maggie Ledra

A lifelong Francophile, I have always wanted to live in France. In 2016, with my French speaking husband Ahm, we bought Maison Pierre D'Or in the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat in the Dordogne. This was a chance to practise my French and to enjoy the French lifestyle. Having the apartments has given us the opportunity to meet lots of wonderful people and to explore this beautiful region. It's a wonderful place with many, many sunny days. Every day is a holiday for us.

Year property purchased 2016
Why this location? We loved Sarlat from the moment we walked through its medieval streets. It's in the heart of the Perigord Noir, which is full of history and things to do. Whether you are interested in castles, caves, gardens, or you just want to enjoy a meal or a glass of local wine beside a river or in a pretty square, there is something for everyone.
Unique benefits of property We have 4 1-bedroomed apartments. They are independent & ideal for couples. Each has a private terrace or balcony, and they are all luxuriously furnished and well equipped. We totally renovated them in 2016 and we redecorate at the start of each season. They are very comfortable, & very well equipped. There is a free parking space on site, which is great during the busy months when parking is difficult in Sarlat. We are 5 minutes stroll to the nearest bistros and bars, and approximately 10 minutes into the heart of Sarlat. It's a short stroll and you can easily pop down to the square, where you can enjoy a drink, a meal & street entertainment.
We include high-speed internet in your booking, and we provide a welcome pack of drinks & snacks on your arrival.
We are in the centre of some of the most stunning countryside in France and can give you advice on days out and places of interest.
We just want you to enjoy your holiday, be comfortable and leave with lots of happy memories.

Two restaurants in Sarlat - Chez Le Gaulois, Le Presidiel

This bistro is our favourite in Sarlat. It makes the perfect tartiflette, and we can highly recommend it. You'll love its traditional French décor and friendly staff.

Or for more fine dining, visit Le Presidiel, where you can enjoy white tablecloths and exquisite French cooking in the beautiful setting of the old law courts.
