The accommodation is unique and individual being converted from a barn. The high ceilings and two sets of French doors have created extremely light and bright accommodation.



Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is fully equipped, and spacious. A pretty country dresser contains everything you would find in a cook's kitchen. There is a fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, kettle, assorted coffee making facilities, including an espresso machine, washing machine, gas cooker, iron, ironing board and clothes horse. The crockery, cutlery and equipment are of high quality.

The dining area is under the mezzanine floor with views to the courtyard garden. There is a wine cabinet stocked with local wines for guests to purchase and enjoy.

Living rooms

A comfortable three seater sofa, and leather armchair are set around the wood burner. Two sets of French doors look out on the front terrace and courtyard garden.


The king-size bedroom is on the mezzanine floor accessed by a wooden staircase. The stair is narrow and may not suit anyone with mobility issues. The bedroom is extremely comfortable, spacious and light. It has a king-sized bed, large country style chest of drawers and wardrobe. The bedlinen is cotton and high quality. There is a floor standing fan for summer visitors and a hairdryer


The bathroom is tiled, light, and bright and has a walk in shower area with a large waterfall shower. There is a toilet, wash hand basin, heated towel rail and generous storage. High quality towels are provided.


The property has a cozy log burner for cooler months.

A complimentary basket of logs will be provided. Additional baskets are available on request.


There is a flat screen tv, with Freesat service, Hi Fi, free wi-fi, surround sound system, dvd player and radio.

The bookcase is well stocked with novels, travel guides, and cookbooks to suit cooks of all levels. There is a wide selection of dvds and cds for guest's enjoyment.

Garden and outside

The garden grounds extend to around 4 acres of fenced grounds, are mainly laid to grass, and there is a small wood and an orchard – perfect if you wish to visit with your dog. There are panoramic views of the beautiful surrounding countryside.

There are many places to sit in the sun, find shade, or to take a stroll. Deer are regularly seen in the gardens. Birdlife is mainly of the woodland variety and birds of prey. Owls are often seen on the roof. The only sounds are birdsong and the village church bells, which punctuate the day.

There is a spa pool situated on the front terrace, perfect for cooling down on hot days.

There is a private parking space.

The staircase to the bedroom is steep and would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

We have put together a complimentary basket of goodies which will be waiting for you on arrival. This will include local red wine, nibbles, tea, coffee, biscuits, fresh bread and jam. In your fridge you will find sparking and still water, fruit juice, butter and cool bottles of beer. That's your pre dinner drinks and Sunday breakfast taken care of!

We are Brian and Hilary McElroy, originally from Scotland.

Why this location? The location is picturesque, situated in wine country, at the end of a quiet country lane, in the small village of Ribagnac a few kilometres from the famous wine village of Monbazillac. There is no passing traffic. Surrounding views are of vineyards and sunflower fields. A peaceful, and tranquil retreat, with the convenience of Bergerac airport, just 15 mins away.

Visit the pretty local villages and towns, explore the stunning chateaux, take a trip along the Route de Vin and sample the local wines, or shop at the legendry local markets. There are many beautiful places to visit for a day trip including Sarlat, St Emillion and Bordeaux. For outdoor enthusiasts, golf, canoeing, cycling and walking are all on hand. The quiet medieval fortified villages of Eymet, Issigeac, Villereal, Beaumount, Lalinde & Monpazier, are all worth a visit, especially on market days when they come alive.

Bergerac old town has charming medieval architecture, pretty streets, shops, bars and restaurants, not forgetting the famous statue of Cyrano. For wine lovers La Maison du Vin is worth a visit.
