Recently refurbished and new to the holiday rental market this year, this charming 15th century stone cottage situated within the walls of the beautiful medieval Bastide of Domme, in the Dordogne offers comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated at the top of rue Porte de la Combe, it is ideally located within a few minutes' walk from shops, bars and restaurants.
The former owner, a local resident of Domme, has spent the last few years sympathetically restoring this former Doctor's house to its former glory, retaining the magnificent fireplace set on the ground floor living/kitchen area. Having just recently purchased this property, we are looking forward to introducing a beautiful woodburning stove for the cooler evenings in low and middle season, and we are also planning to install a stylish en suite to complement the master bedroom downstairs.
The open-plan kitchen/dining area is fully equipped with electric oven/hob/extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, fridge-freezer, toaster/grill, kettle, coffee-maker and accessories, a good range of crockery and cooking accessories/utensils, iron and ironing board, and a dining table with 6 chairs.
From the picturesque front terrace, the front door opens onto a stylish large open-plan living/kitchen/dining area:
The living area offers 2 comfortable sofas, tv with dvd and FreeSat, Sony Bluetooth speaker, 2 coffee tables, elegant mango-wood cupboard and mirror with a selection of guide books and leaflets, clock, wooden dining table and 6 chairs.
The open-plan wooden staircase leads both upstairs and downstairs:
Downstairs set on the bottom floor is the large master bedroom (35sqm) consisting of king size bed (180cm), large rug, 2 bedside tables and table lamps, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table with stool and mirror, tv with FreeSat, electric oil radiator and hair dryer. This is a cool room in the heat of the summer and has nice inward opening windows with window grill and shutter opening onto the rue Porte de la Combe.
Upstairs set on the 1st floor the landing area leads onto:
One double bedroom consisting of a queen size bed (160cm), 2 rugs, 2 bedside tables and table lamps, hanging rail and hair dryer
Second smaller double bedroom consisting of a double bed (140cm), 1 rug, 1 bedside table and table lamp and hanging rail
Bathroom with toilet, washbasin unit with 2 drawers and shower unit.
Wall heaters available in the living/kitchen/dining area and upstairs
Portable radiators are available for the master bedroom downstairs
Leading on from the kitchen area is a private, part-covered patio area with patio table and 6 chairs where you can relax and enjoy al fresco dining.
Off-street parking bays available with 1 parking permit for guests
We are Martin & Cath Venn, from Hampshire, UK. We have visited France for many years, having friends living in the Dordogne area close to the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. The nearby towns and villages took our breath away and we decided to search for a holiday home around this area. After viewing a number of properties by chance we found this property in Domme and we were lucky that we were successful in our property purchase.

|Why this location?||The Dordogne is a beautiful area of France, full of history and culture. The history of the medieval Bastide of Domme attracted us and we love the nearby medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda.|
|Unique benefits of property||Maison de la Combe is a 15th century stone cottage, some of which is built into the bedrock of the medival Bastide of Domme offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated at the top of rue Porte de la Combe, it is ideally located within a few minutes' walk from shops, bars and restaurants.
The property offers an open-plan living/kitchen area with dining table and chairs, opening out onto a part-covered patio area with comfortable seating and al fresco dining.
The open-plan wooden staircase leads both downstairs to the master bedroom and upstairs to 2 additional double bedrooms and the bathroom with shower.
Off-street parking is available with a parking permit for guests.
Please note, because of the open-plan wooden stairs, it is currently not suitable for very young children and we are planning to make changes to this in the near future.
As there are no bedrooms on the ground floor it is not wheelchair accessible.
Market day in Domme is Thursday - not to be missed!

They are the biggest caves in the Perigord Noir area. At the end of the visit a lift takes you to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Dordogne valley.
The caves are open from the beginning of February to the 11th November, as well as the December school holidays. In the quiet season visits might be cancelled if there are not enough people.
