About this property

Charming 15th Century Stone Cottage Set Within Domme. This cottage/gite is in a town setting.

Recently refurbished and new to the holiday rental market this year, this charming 15th century stone cottage situated within the walls of the beautiful medieval Bastide of Domme, in the Dordogne offers comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated at the top of rue Porte de la Combe, it is ideally located within a few minutes' walk from shops, bars and restaurants.

The former owner, a local resident of Domme, has spent the last few years sympathetically restoring this former Doctor's house to its former glory, retaining the magnificent fireplace set on the ground floor living/kitchen area. Having just recently purchased this property, we are looking forward to introducing a beautiful woodburning stove for the cooler evenings in low and middle season, and we are also planning to install a stylish en suite to complement the master bedroom downstairs.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Catherine Venn

We are Martin & Cath Venn, from Hampshire, UK. We have visited France for many years, having friends living in the Dordogne area close to the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. The nearby towns and villages took our breath away and we decided to search for a holiday home around this area. After viewing a number of properties by chance we found this property in Domme and we were lucky that we were successful in our property purchase.

Year property purchased 2019
Why this location? The Dordogne is a beautiful area of France, full of history and culture. The history of the medieval Bastide of Domme attracted us and we love the nearby medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda.
Unique benefits of property Maison de la Combe is a 15th century stone cottage, some of which is built into the bedrock of the medival Bastide of Domme offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests. Situated at the top of rue Porte de la Combe, it is ideally located within a few minutes' walk from shops, bars and restaurants.

The property offers an open-plan living/kitchen area with dining table and chairs, opening out onto a part-covered patio area with comfortable seating and al fresco dining.

The open-plan wooden staircase leads both downstairs to the master bedroom and upstairs to 2 additional double bedrooms and the bathroom with shower.

Please note, because of the open-plan wooden stairs, it is currently not suitable for very young children and we are planning to make changes to this in the near future.
