About this property

A Stunning House in a Tranquil and Sunny Setting. This villa is in a rural setting.

This is a beautifully restored 19th century farmhouse standing on a hill overlooking an attractive valley. It has a sunny south-facing courtyard flanked by two large barns and the 1.5 acre (0.6 hectare) plot includes garden areas with a variety of fruit trees, including apple, plum, fig, damson, mirabelle, mulberry and walnut. Below the small meadow is a large 12m x 6m fenced swimming pool with a self-closing gate.

The house is spacious and comfortable, with a very large family kitchen, and is amply provided in every way (bedding, kitchen machines and utensils, tv, music players, games, wi-fi etc.)

The aim is to ensure that our guests have everything they need, that everything in the house works properly and is of high quality.



Kitchen and dining

The kitchen can comfortably seat 10 people and crockery, cutlery and glasses are sufficient for more than that number.

It is equipped with more than enough cooking pots and pans (including a pressure cooker) for two families as well as two knife blocks, a food mixer, a juicer and a four-slice Dualit toaster.

There is a large fridge, a fan oven with four gas hobs, a dishwasher and two washing machines, plus a radio/cd player and a Bluetooth speaker for any music you have on your mobile phone.

We also have a highchair available if needed

Living rooms

The television and dvd player (and a selection of dvd's) are in the living room along with a good selection of books and boardgames.

There is seating for six, but that can be augmented by bringing in some of the many extra chairs in the house if there is something interesting on the box!

There is also a desk for laptops/tablets.


There are 5 bedrooms: two doubles and one twin upstairs, and two twins downstairs, with electric radiators and fans.

All have duvets and feather pillows but there are fibre filled pillows available for those who prefer them.

There is ample storage space in wardrobes and chests of drawers.

Three hair dryers are provided.


The main bathroom has a washbasin, wc, stand-alone shower and a bath with shower attachment. The second bathroom has a washbasin, wc and shower.

Also provided are a plastic cradle for bathing babies, a potty and a child's loo-seat adapter.


The sitting room features a 7.5 kw woodburning stove, while the kitchen has one rated at 6.5 kw.
Bedrooms have electric radiators (as well as fans for the summer).


In the east barn there is a table tennis table, sets of boules and a variety of children's toys.

Two mountain bikes are in the garden shed and other toys, boardgames and dvd's are in the sitting room.

Garden and outside

The barbecue area features a Weber gas barbecue as well as a charcoal barbecue.

The garden areas are spacious with plenty of play areas for children as well as a large number of fruit trees including apple, plum, mirabelle, damson, mulberry walnut. The mulberries make a terrific kir!

The swimming pool is large (12m x 6m) and 6 sunloungers are provided.

The property has a large gravelled parking area.

The property is suitable for families with children but not suitable for disabled people.

A Love Affair with France

If you like peaceful countryside, good food and wine and bustling French markets, start here!

There are countless good local restaurants within the area and two weekly markets (in Riberac and Chalais).

Angouleme, Brantome, Cognac, Perigeux and all the great wine-growing areas around Bordeaux (of which St Emilion is probably the most attractive) are easy to reach by car.

The Atlantic coast is less than 2 hours drive away; and the caves of the Dordogne are about an hour and a half away - a marvellous trip for a rainy day. Also within easy reach there are plenty of tennis courts, and rivers and lakes to swim, fish or boat in.

Golf: There is a 9 hole golf course in an attractive leisure complex about 15 minutes away which also has tennis courts and a swimming pool. Perigueux (40 minutes) and Cognac (50 minutes) also have very good 18 hole courses.
