Pippin's Cottage is 1 of 2 cottages that together make Les Hirondelles, the other being Sunset Cottage. The cottages can be rented separately, or together to provide accommodation for up to 8 people.
Pippin's Cottage is a typical Perigordian, single-storey stone cottage which has been tastefully restored and extended to give modern, comfortable accommodation, whilst retaining many original features. The traditional oak beamed open plan living area comprises kitchen, dining area and lounge. This light and sunny cottage is designed to comfortably accommodate four people with a double bedroom and a twin bedded room.
Both cottages are very well equipped throughout with everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing holiday.
Each cottage has its own large, private garden with paved terrace, gas barbecue and wooden garden furniture for al fresco dining. You can enjoy a relaxing barbecue on the terrace while taking in the views and soaking up the ambiance of this small, welcoming hamlet.
Guest are welcome to stroll in our 7 acres of grounds, part of which is mixed woodland, along with a walnut grove and a variety of fruit trees.
The English owners live on site and are happy to offer advice and help when needed.
Please see our other property available at Les Hirondelles, Sunset Cottage.

Stunning Views, beautiful cottage and great pool (Pippin's) - Ash A, August 2019
We all had such a great time - thank you for making us feel so welcome. Getting the children to leave was challenging!
We highly recommend this place to anyone who is thinking about a peaceful and family orientated holiday. Peter and Jeanette are gracious hosts and only too happy to help make your holiday a memorable one.
The cottage is located in a fantastic part of the Dordogne, close to many wonderful historical towns and castles. The highlights for us were canoeing down the Dordogne and Vezere rivers, a visit to Beynac Castle, the Knights jousting Tournament in Rouffignac and relaxing by the splendid pool at the cottage.
Fantastic Holiday Cottage (Pippin's) - Andrew F, July 2019
An absolutely fantastic holiday enjoyed by all the family. The most peaceful hamlet to stay in with everything you could ask from a holiday cottage. We found so much to see and do within the area… natural beauty everywhere you looked and space to enjoy it. Two weeks was definitely not enough! Thank you, Jeanette and Peter, for helping make it such a wonderful, relaxing stay.
Relaxing, Revelation (Sunset) - Andrew C, July 2019
This gem is perfectly placed within easy reach of many attractions, it is a peaceful and relaxing setting. Our hosts, Peter and Jeanette, could not have been more helpful or friendly to us during our stay. The weather was wonderful as many a night we spent on the patio until very late, stargazing. If you want peace and tranquillity, this is for you. Can't wait to go back, thank you Peter and Jeanette.
We have been renting holiday homes for years and this was the best in terms of overall experience (Sunset) - Brenda D, June 2019
From beautiful scenery to home comfort and plentiful things to do for both families and older couples like us, you wont be disappointed.
Our Favourite Cottage (Sunset) - Kay B, September 2019
A beautiful cottage set in a tranquil rural area, we could hear the silence! A haven for wildlife, a place to relax with a well sighted pool with lovely views. Peter and Jeanette's attention to detail and extensive local knowledge made our holiday great and enabled us to find the best places to visit and eat out. We have been coming since 2004 and would always recommend Sunset Cottage to friends and relatives.

Les Hirondelles can be found at the end of a small lane in a tiny hamlet called Montribot. The hamlet, with just 3 families, is situated on top of a hill at around 1000t. The location offers peace and tranquillity and the most wonderful all round views.
However, our oasis of calm is far from isolated. The historic town of Rouffignac St Cernin, with all its amenities including shops, restaurants and a Sunday market, is just 5 minutes away by car. Excellent roads give easy access to all the attractions of the beautiful Dordogne and Vezere valleys and beyond. They also ensure that, after a busy and enjoyable day out, it is possible to escape back to our much slower and quieter pace of life.
We fell in love with the Dordogne during many lovely holidays, and after retiring from our busy and demanding jobs, settled here in 1999. Since then we haven't looked back. We have met so many lovely people over the past 20 years and it is always a pleasure to see them return, as well as to welcome new guests. We love sharing our little piece of paradise with people, so whatever your reason for visiting us here in this beautiful part of France, we can assure you of a very warm welcome.

|Why this location?||This is a truly picturesque and peaceful location for people who want to get away from it all and, at the same time, be within easy driving distance of all the amenities and attractions of the beautiful Dordogne and Vezere valleys. The Périgord has many flower-filled, historic small villages which give the distinct impression that they are lost in time. Castles, chateaux and beautiful gardens in stunning locations may be visited throughout the year. It is a small paradise for those interested in all aspects of nature. Spring is the time for bird watching with more than 70 species recorded around our cottages. Wildflowers, and in particular the orchids, are stunning in spring and early summer. Summer is the ideal time for picnics on the shady banks of a river or relaxing on a lounger by the pool during the day, and enjoying a barbecue and glass of wine on the terrace in the evening. Autumn is a quieter time, warm with early morning mists and the fantastic changing colours of the forest.|
|Unique benefits of property||Set amidst forested, rolling hills, Les Hirondelles is part of a sleepy little hamlet called Montribot. It is around 4km from Rouffignac St Cernin, our nearest town, which has a post office, cashpoint, pharmacy, bars, cafes and restaurants. It also has a Carrefour Supermarket, open from 0800 to 2000 Monday to Saturday and Sunday morning 0900 to 1300, ideal for guests arriving late on Saturday.
Blondy's bakery makes the most delicious cakes and pastries for miles around, especially their strawberry tarts. You have been warned!
The small, colourful market in Rouffignac on Sunday morning provides really fresh locally produced fruit and vegetables, as well as cheese, wine and other tasty goodies! There is a market every day of the week in one of the nearby villages and towns.
There are numerous chateaux, castles and bastide towns, some of which were built by the English during the 100 years war.
The region is renowned as one of the earliest sites of prehistoric civilisation and for pre-history enthusiasts, the area has the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies. There are many caves, troglodyte villages and exhibitions to visit. The area has the largest concentration of caves and paintings in France, and Rouffigac has its own cave with remarkable paintings, accessible by an exciting train ride!
Montignac is home to the world famous Lascaux cave. Lascaux is renowned as the finest of all prehistoric painted caves made by Cro Magnon man.
It goes without saying that, for many people, one of the area's biggest attractions is the gastronomy, and there are many fine restaurants each offering slightly different but sumptuous local menus.
Our bustling county town, Perigueux, is also well worth a visit. It has a beautiful pedestrianised heart filled with narrow lanes and squares and well preserved medieval town-houses, as well as lots of shops, restaurants and pavement cafes - and, don't miss the Cathedrale St Front with its unusual towers!
Other places we recommend are Sarlat, Domme, Le Roque-Gageac, Beynac and Castelnaud.
With innumerable places to visit and things to do, we provide a large selection of publicity in our cottages to help you find something to suit your particular interests - and, of course, we are always on hand to help point you in the right direction!
