About this property

Perigordine Style House With Spa Hot Tub In Dordogne. This villa is in a village setting.

This large very well presented, Perigordine-style four bedroom spacious holiday home is located in a very convenient position in the heart of the Dordogne, in the pretty little village of Calviac-en-Périgord where you will find the village shop selling fresh bread daily and groceries. The property benefits from sunny terraces in the large garden with magnificent views of the Chateaux Fenelon on the hillside beyond. Although there is no swimming pool, a large spa hot tub with guaranteed privacy may tempt you! The Dordogne river can be reached by a short walk (1 km) 5 minutes through glorious countryside. The larger village of Rouffillac is just over 2 km where canoes can be hired to safely explore the Dordogne river or just in a riverside bar and watch the world go by! Here you will also find a few good restaurants.

If cycling is your thing, this is the ideal location for you and your family. The Sarlat-Souillac greenway can be accessed in 2 minutes easily from the house and provides 35km of traffic-free scenic cycling, ideal for adults and children alike. There has also been a recent extension that turns off the main route and continues to Gourdon, passing the scenic lake at Grolejac. For an alternative swimming experience, in addition to the clear, clean and safe waters of the Dordogne river, the Plan d'Eau at Grolejac is a lovely lake where you can swim and hire pedalos. This is a 10 minute drive or, for the more energetic, you can cycle from the house using the greenway along the Dordogne. You also have the Etang de Tamniès just north-west of Sarlat-la-Canéda. For the golfers, there is an 18-hole course at Souillac Country Club and a 9-hole course at Domaine de Rochebois at Vitrac. For those who enjoy fishing on holiday, again the Dordogne river is right on your doorstep, and for the carp fisher a little further afield is the 5-star Golden Carp Lake at Vieux-Mareuil. There is plenty to keep the children occupied as well as for all the family, just ask us and we'll give you more information on activities.

The magnificent châteaux at Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (25 km) and Beynac-et-Cazenac (22 km) are definitely worth a visit. They are also visible from the river. Sarlat-la-Canéda (11 km), 'Pearl of the Périgord,' is a real tourist attraction. Stroll along the many tiny streets with timbered houses and charming courtyards. Here you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes. This region is also famous for its prehistoric relics. You can visit old cave dwellings that belonged to the Cro-Magnons in La Roque Saint Christophe (40 km).
