The Owner Recommends

'Sporting Activities' There are several 18-hole golf courses in the vicinity the closest being 12km. Two tennis courts in the village one of which is floodlit. River, lake and canal fishing. Over 1500km of purpose-built cycle tracks exist in the Gironde the newest of which was opened this year and follows along the banks of the Lateral Canal 12km from us; this is the canal along which Rick Stein travelled during his "French Odyssey" programme

For the retail therapist there is a village market close by practically every day, from the largest in the market town of Langon set up on the banks of the Garonne, to the Bazas market crammed into the medieval square dominated at one end by the cathedral St Jean. For the less energetic the shops in the village at just 5-10 mins walk sell everything you would need to prepare your gastronomic delights, from fresh duck to fresh baked bread and locally grown fruit and veg.

The Atlantic Coast

'The Atlantic Coast'
This is just over an hour and a half from us and offers such diverse contrasts as the Pyla Dune, the largest in Europe 117m high and 2.7km long, the panoramic view at the top contrasts from the sky blue ocean on one side to the fragrant green pine forest on the other, it continues to move between 3-10 metres a year. To the other extreme there are many theme parks such as Water World. One can also swim in the large warm lakes with their sandy beaches situated behind the coast or the challenge of surfing in the Atlantic waves.

This property is a little gem! For a relaxing holiday in an idyllic setting - a nature-lover's dream - you'll have to go a long way to beat Le Hilleton!. You'll also have to go a long way to find a nicer couple than Alan and Mandy, and if there's anything you need/want/can't find, they'll get/find it for you! They really are the perfect hosts, and the property has been a labour of love in a little piece of Heaven, which they'll willingly share with you. We didn't want to leave, and neither will you.

Le Hilleton is a lovely gite owned and run by two of the nicest people you could wish to meet.It is all on the ground floor (no stairs!) and you can park right outside the door.It is very spacious, has extensive grounds to walk in and has lovely views.Good sized television with English channels and excellent WiFi.A good area for cycling, near Lateral canal and a voie verte in nearby Bazas. There is a signed walk just 3 minutes away. A 5 or 6 minute walk into the village where there are 2 baker's and a good sized supermarket. We have stayed in approx. 25 different gites and this would be in our top 3.Excellent value as well. And 2! bottles of wine! Book with confidence you will not be disappointed.

Excellent property, clean, very spacious and beautiful gardens. The owners were very friendly and happy to help with any queries we had.
The only minor issue was the lack of a restaurant in the local village and the local bars were a bit drab.
