Due to steps and a low door on the ground floor the house would not be suitable for those with severe mobility issues. Do contact us to discuss details.
Note also that the first floor ceiling height is low in places. We are a tall family, including 6'7" and we don't find it an issue.
There is no fencing around the garden, but there is a fence and hedging around the pool accessed through a lockable gate. This could deter toddlers but not older children. There is also a pool alarm. Pool depth is around 1.40m.
Sorry no pets.
This is the wine region par excellence and you will find a complimentary bottle on arrival. We can advise where to buy more...
Everyday needs can be met in Sauveterre the nearest town, a few minutes away. The supermarket and 2 petrol stations are on the outside of this bastide town founded by Edward I in 1281. The market square is accessed through several imposing stone gates. Market day is Tuesday and worth a visit for fresh local produce. Otherwise Sauveterre has banks, a post office, chemist, boulangerie-pattiserie, butcher's, greengrocer's, stationer's, florist's, hardware store and simple cafe-style restaurants.
The beach and dunes of Arcachon and Le Pyla are less than 1.5h away by car.
A truly beautiful city, an hour away by car, or can also be reached by the Voie Verte. For lovers of fine buildings and culture, and also shopping!

Blasimon has a lake with a swimming beach about 20 minutes away.
We can supply details of restaurants in the area ranging from simple food that saves cooking to highly regarded gastronomic establishments.
Picturesque and historically interesting towns are plentiful. World famous Saint Emilion is 28km away (half an hour by car). The quaint bastide town of Sain Macaire is nearby and another bastide, La Réole 14km and the great cathedral at Bazas is 40km away. Château de Roquetaillade (30 mins) and Château de Caseneuve (40 mins) - magnificent medieval castles open to the public

A wonderful stay at Bienfourcol, which provided a beautifully secluded and most comfortable break for us all. The house is simply & tastefully presented with the bathrooms seemingly being the most recent additions, and it was easy for the two families in our party to quickly settle in and get on with enjoying the beautiful weather. It was very hot at night & the lack of air-con in the upper rooms might be an issue for some but for us it was simply a consequence of the Sud-de-France summer, most often enjoyed from the shaded table on the raised patio across from the main house.
The pool was always on hand for a cool-down and is wonderfully secluded and private; a massive hit with the kids! A chap came by at least once a week to make sure all was well & perform maintenance, so no worries there.
The extensive gardens are carefully planted and most pleasant to explore, especially as they were surrounded by a mature crop of beaming sunflowers. The shade of the trees were a perfect spot to take our 14 month old for some trouble-free crawl-time, and also to grab forty winks should the opportunity arise!
Vines dominate the countryside so lots of wine to be drunk. We purchased from the well-stocked supermarket in Sauveterre, which is a ten minute drive away, and also the Cave which has wine en Vrac and in bottles and boxes for very reasonable prices. Best wine of the trip was a €20 bottle of Margaux; no surprises there!
A wonderful stay. We hope to return!
A good house with big garden, shaded seating area and nice pool that both adults and children loved. It is in a very quiet setting yet within 5km of a small town with supermarket and a couple of restaurants/bars. The kitchen is well equipped and the sitting room large, although the weather was so good we didn't really use that room. Ground floor kids' bedrooms are cooler than the first floor ones but even in the high 30s weather we had it was possible to sleep. There is a small stream nearby which I think was the source of some mosquitos which were only a problem in the evening and overnight (given bedroom windows were open) so take some insect repellant. The sky light in the main bedroom had no black out blind when we visited (July 2018) but I think the owners (who are easy to contact and deal with) are sorting that. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed a super, peaceful holiday in this delightful property with a wonderful swimming pool and beautiful garden full of colourful and scented flowers. Everything was lovely in the house although the bedroom downstairs with bunk beds ( obviously for children) was at a distance from the double bedrooms upstairs. Could be a problem if the children are young although there is a small twin room next to the bunk bedroom.
Every sound can be heard as walls upstairs are paper thin between the 2 double bedrooms and with no carpet the floorboards creak. It was not a problem for us as a family but some guests might need to bear this in mind.
Sauveterre is lovely with excellent boulangerie and café de the off the main square. market was small on Tuesday morning but thee was musical entertainment when we visited. Only 2 restaurants open when we were there one of which was a pizzeria with other options. Super U supermarket and garage were good to have as nearby facilities.
We can highly recommend this house in a delightful area with vines and woodland and pretty windmills.
