Our beautiful private village properties are connected by a heated swimming pool and dining area. They have both been recently renovated to a high standard with contemporary fittings and furnishings, retaining substantial original charm.
Maison Gensac has a chic and spacious feel. It has three double bedrooms, each with their own en suite shower room, with washbasin, and toilet. In addition there are two extra cloakrooms. It also boasts an office for those working from home (!), with excellent wi-fi throughout.
Doors from the kitchen/dining room open onto a sunny dining terrace with wood fired pizza oven and an outdoor dining table. Steps up lead to the pool, the table tennis table and to La Porte Bleue.
La Porte Bleue is a bijou self contained cottage. It has an independent entrance or can be accessed from Maison Gensac via the pool terrace. It has two bedrooms, both en suite, each with a shower, toilet and washbasin. The French doors open onto a shady pool terrace, sun beds for lazing around, and a table to enjoy breakfast or drinks by the pool.
This flexible accommodation is perfect for several generation families, or for two families sharing. We have plenty of toys and games for children to enjoy.
The chlorine pool is 7x3 metres, heated from June to September and 1.5 metres deep throughout. There are steps in one corner. A solar shower provides a quick rinse off after swimming.
A ping pong table provides hours of fun, or you can play tennis at the village tennis courts, a couple of hundred metres away.
Stepping outside the front door, the bakery, two restaurants and bars are less than 500 metres walk in the picturesque village of Gensac. A grocery shop, pharmacy, butcher and local wine shop provide everything you need. There is also an English speaking doctor for your peace of mind.
There are tennis courts in the village, and opportunities for walks and for wine tasting are everywhere; we have a few favourites we can share with you!
Surrounded by vineyards and fields of sunflowers, the peaceful environment and low levels of light pollution means you can enjoy the stars at night and enjoy a midnight dip when it's really hot!
Canoeing on the Dordogne is just 2 kms away and you can also hire bikes to cycle along the river, through vineyards and to local markets.
Within half an hours drive are the stunning chateaux of St. Emilion with their world famous vineyards, finest wine and Michelin starred dining.
Chateau des Vigiers Golf course is less than half an hour in the other direction, and of course, the fairy tale city of Bordeaux can be accessed in less than an hour by train.
Each property has a fully equipped contemporary kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. The kitchen in Maison Gensac has a 6 burner range cooker with gas hob and electric oven. The open plan kitchen/diner boasts a dining table that can seat 10, and an island with two seats for keeping the chef company, or helping with the pizza dough!!
On the dining terrace there is a further wooden dining table that seats 10, and a wood fired pizza oven!
La Porte Bleue has a very well equipped kitchen, with a smaller electric oven and a gas hob. There is a dining table that seats 4, and a further table on the terrace that seats 4.
High chair is available too.
Both properties have a flat screen smart tv with sound bar, UK satellite channels, and Netflix/Youtube.
Both also have a wireless sound system for playing music. Maison Gensac also has a dvd player.
Maison Gensac has three comfy sofas for watching tv, or enjoying the cosy wood burning stove in winter.
La Porte Bleue -if everyone wants to watch/listen to something different, there is also a living room in the cottage with a sofa and two arm chairs.
Bedrooms are simply furnished (bedding provided), and are sunny and light. Each also has their own private en suite shower, washbasin, and toilet.
the balcony bedroom with large double bed has floor to ceiling french doors with shutters opening onto a balcony at the front of the house. This is a prefect spot to sip a morning coffee or an evening nightcap and enjoy watching village life!
The garden bedroom has a double bed with beautiful views of the pool and dining terrace, and shuttered windows to keep things cool.
The third floor bedroom has a a large double, velux windows, and it's own tv.
La Porte Bleue
both bedrooms have a beautiful view of the pool, one bedroom is double, and the other can be made up as a double or two singles.
A cot with baby bedding can be provided, and can easily be set up either in the balcony bedroom in Maison Gensac, or in one of the bedrooms in the cottage.
Stair gates can be fitted for children's safety on request.
There are 5 en suite shower rooms, each with shower, washbasin, and toilet. In addition there are 2 cloakrooms in the house, both on the first floor.
Simple toiletries are included.
All the bathrooms are newly fitted, with heated towel rooms in all shower rooms; white ceramic fittings and chrome fixtures.
Towels are provided, and we can also provide a changing mat and a step for babies and toddlers.
During the summer months electric fans are provided in each bedroom and in the communal areas.
There is a large shade umbrella on the lower dining terrace and a shade sail on the pool terrace outside the terrace doors of La Porte Bleue.
Both properties are very well insulated with double glazed windows and are equally cosy in the cooler months. There is central heating in the house, which also has a wood burning stove. La Porte Bleue has electric radiators.
There are heated towel rails in all shower rooms and cloak rooms.
Each property has a flat screen samrt tv with UK satellite channels, Netflix and Youtube.
Maison Gensac also has a dvd player and a selection of dvds.
There are wireless speakers in both properties so your play lists are always available to you!
Both properties have a strong wi-fi signal.
There is also an outdoor table tennis table and various toys, games and books are available to keep children happy.
Both properties have their own individual street entrance, but are also connected by two terraces, which are completely private on the inside. Each has French doors which open onto a terrace, and the two terraces are connected to each other by a small flight of steps.
Maison Gensac opens onto the larger dining terrace with pizza oven, and steps leading up to the pool and La Porte Bleue.
The pool terrace, which has sun loungers, a solar shower, the heated pool, table tennis table and a small dining table which seats 4, leads directly from the French doors of La Porte Bleue at one end, and down the steps onto the larger dining terrace with pizza oven at the other.
Tennis courts are a couple of hundred metres away and can be booked via the tourist office in Gensac.
There are two restaurants and bars in the village within a few hundred metres.
Bicycle and canoe hire are available less 2kms.
There are several chateaux for wine tasting within walking distance.
Gensac has plenty of free parking, and the nearest is 100 metres from the cottage. There is space in front of the house to unload, then the car can be parked safely in the quiet free car park 100 metres away (where we keep our car!).
We can store bikes bikes/baby buggies in our locked garage and provide you with a key during your stay.
Our properties are suitable for families with children of all ages.
Because there are different levels on the ground floor and all the bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs we regret it is not suitable for those who have difficulty walking unaided.
We love living here in SW France, it just has everything: chateaux, markets, the Dordogne river and of course, vineyards everywhere! With lovely long summers there's plenty of time for lazy days by the pool as well as walking, cycling, and wine tasting!<br/>We very much enjoy hosting people and having family and friends to stay. |Why this location?||The village of Gensac is a perfect location for holidaying. The village itself has two restaurants and bars, a bakery, post office, and grocery store. That means our guests can stroll out for a drink or a meal without having to drive. There are several further restaurants and bars within a 5km radius so plenty of choice. Wine chateaux are all around so tastings can be done without driving. The scenery is spectacular; we are surrounded by beautiful vineyards, and in July, fields of sunflowers too. Fresh produce markets are in all the local towns and villages, there is one for each day of the week! Just 2km from the Dordogne its a perfect opportunity to enjoy canoeing, or just picnicking by the river. Both bikes and canoes can be hired locally. The beautiful Unesco heritage town of St. Emilion, home to some of the most exclusive wine chateaux in the world, is less than half an hour. We are also between Bergerac and Bordeaux airports so there are lots of choices of flights from the UK.|
|Unique benefits of property||We can sleep 10 comfortably (plus baby in cot!) in 5 double bedrooms (one can be made into a twin), all with their own en suite shower room. The property comprises the main house and a beautiful cottage, both newly renovated to a high specification. It's a perfect setting for three generation families or two separate families as each also its own fully equipped kitchen, SMart tv, music equipment and dining area. There is a private heated swimming pool, outdoor wood fired pizza oven, and table tennis table, to keep everyone entertained! The main outdoor dining area seats 10, and the main indoor dining table in the house can be extended to seat 12. We also provide stair gates, travel cot, high chair and other baby equipment as required. The house is in the heart of the village of Gensac, which means every guest can please themselves as to staying in and enjoying the facilities, or going our for a drink or a meal, without the need to drive!|
You can stroll to Chateau Carbonneau and enjoy their stunning vineyards while sitting outside and sampling tea, cake and wine.
