The house is situated south of Arcachon, in the beautiful Landes forest, 12 mins from sea and 300m from a lake with sandy shores. It has been architecturally designed to a high French standard in a typically French style with tiled floors on the ground floor and with carpets upstairs. The house is simply furnished in natural pine to complement the exposed pine beam ceilings. As the house was furnished for our own use practically all the furniture and fittings were new for the completion and have been carefully looked after by our guests ever since.
The lake has numerous sandy beaches with ample shady parking. During the summer months, it has an average temperature of 20ºC plus. The shallow perimeter is a very safe place for small children. The long sandy Atlantic beaches bordered by the pine forests provide world-class surfing.
This is a French holiday area famous for wines and seafood and is largely undiscovered by the British. Walk or cycle along special tracks in the forest to lakes or sea. Horse riding, sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, fishing, golf and many more sports are available locally.

Do not miss the latest spectacular development the Museum of Wine and the extensive gardens laid out along the quay incorporating a mirror lake at the Place-de-la-Bourse which although only 2 inches deep not only gives you a chance to cool your feet but gives the impression of walking on water.

Chez Flo in nearby Parentis serves excellent French cuisine. The food is beautifully presented and the atmosphere very friendly. An English translation of the menu is available should you need some help. It is very popular with the locals especially after the Thursday morning market.
A perfect location. A modern-ish house in a small collection of holiday homes. Walking distance to swim in the lake (about 500m) sandy beach, very shallow; safe for little ones. (Plenty of parking if you prefer to drive). Shop for croissants and essentials (small supermarket) 5 mins walk. Sandy beaches for great surfing 20 minutes drive from door to large free carpark. Don't need to walk far along beach to get away from crowds. Some strong currents but in our experience only sideways and not out to sea but be aware if swimming out of flagged zone.
This is a very busy holiday area but full of families, big cycling area.. Area was clean and felt safe. Very few other English families which we liked! House has everything you could need and owner helpful from first contact. Lots of info in house book to allow you to make the most of the holiday. We were three and there was plenty of room, five might be cosy but don't don't be put of by that; this house is good in every other way. No wi-fi but this is available free at a couple of nearish venues (15 mins drive for confirming hotel bookings or teenagers experiencing withdrawal symptoms!)
Lovely houses in good location. Very pleased will book again
Great Location and Mrs Baker is fantastic. Couldn't fault anything about the booking procedure or support in finding the property. Near to bike hire but take your own if you can; fantastic facilities for novice/family riders. Would definitely go back.
No massive bad points at all. TV is great asset as we watched Wimbledon and Andy Murray's win. Could possibly do with WiFi in this day and age for my teenage daughter.
