About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Gillian Pye

We purchased this large property in 2002

Year property purchased 2002
Why this location? The architecture of the local bastide style farmhouses built with the river stone are really lovely. Les Vieux Chenes offers the chance to stay in a 17th century farmhouse that has been renovated sympathically, but with modern failities to suit the 21st century holiday maker. The stunning backdrop of the Pyrenees National Park can be seen from the bedrooms windows.
Unique benefits of property 360 degree views over the Jurancon vineyards and Pau valley in one direction and the Pyrenees mountains in the other. Outstanding valleys views from the very large pool

This is a lovely old farmhouse in a very quiet rural location. We have twin boys aged (almost) 4 and a daughter aged 6. There was ample outdoor space for the kids to run around in and a good sized swimming pool adjacent to the house.

The house was spotless, and the rooms were spacious. The kitchen was well equipped which was good as we ate in most nights due to having small children. There was also a BBQ on the patio outside which we used a lot during our stay. There were great restaurants very close by and lists of restaurant recommendations were provided in the house.

There was a large folder left in the house, packed with information on days out and local activities. The owner Gillian was very friendly and went out of her way to assist with ideas for day trips and also assisted with booking activities online and phoning local restaurants for reservations.

The property is in a very rural setting with nothing within walking distance so a car is essential. But there were local supermarkets within 10 minutes of the house and lovely towns close by such as Naverrenx and Monein.

The property is ideal if you want to either relax and unwind, sunbathing by the pool or enjoy the vast amount of sights and activities available in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques region. We were very sad to leave!

What a wonderful Gite and location. Gillian the owner was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Such a wonderful location to explore and there was something for everyone. Definitely recommend the rafting and cycling in the Pyrenees. Amazing pool, so clean and large and the children spent hours in it. Gite very clean, tidy and beds so comfortable. Thank you Gillian!
