We spent a very happy four weeks at Lou Campet - a character barn conversion with an African theme. It was well equipped to a high standard, and with comfortable beds & has a swimming pool. It has one double and one twin bedroom, with the toilet and shower facilities being on the ground floor.
We were made very welcome by Undine and Bill and especially appreciated their kindness in providing bread, milk jam etc which got us off to a good start!
Lou Campet is located about 6 miles from a charming little market town of Lembeye where you can buy almost anything. Surrounded by vineyards of the Madiran area, with about 30 of 300 vineyards in easy reach, it is also a wine lover's paradise. (Well kept French secrets!).
We had very good weather the whole time and enjoyed exploring. We visited the dramatic and beautiful Pyrenees and Cirque du Gavarnie - a UN World Heritage Site, the amazing underground Grottes de Bettharam, joined the stunning spectacle of pilgrims from all over the world at Lourdes, also - the historical town of Pau; Tarbres - a busy town with lots of big supermarkets and shops; Auch - another historical UN World Heritage site, and Maubourget where there is an amazing Roman Mosaic.
We mainly cooked for ourselves but used three places locally to eat - all good food and good value.
Finally, with one of us not speaking French, the UK Sky TV channels were much appreciated
