Ideally located in the heart of the medieval town Salies de Bearn, with the beaches of Biarritz a 40 minute drive, and the Pyrenees mountain range less than an hour away. The house contains 5 bedrooms - three doubles, one family room with a double and single bed, and a bunk bed room. There is a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and generous lounge and dining area. Perfect for families or large groups.

The house is located on a pretty street, conveniently situated less than a minute walk to the centre of Salies de Bearn, a gorgeous traditional village with cobbled streets and a multitude of great restaurants and bars to choose from. It is less than 300 meter walk to the Thermal Baths, renowned for the healing properties of its salt waters.

We are a couple who love to travel and explore the outdoors. We holidayed in this beautiful Bearn region in South West France and fell in love with the stunning scenery and all it had to offer and decided to make it our permanent home. We now rent out a property and invite other people to come and enjoy the delight and charm of this beautiful area.

Why this location? Nestled between the sandy Atlantic beaches of Biarritz and the mountainous terrain of the Pyrenees, Salies de Bearn is a very charming, old fashioned town with plenty on offer.

There are plenty of local attractions including a golf course, local markets, walking/cycling tracks, outdoor swimming pool, cinema, fishing, canoeing or wine tasting at the local vineyards.

Less than 40 mins drive brings you to the sandy beaches of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz, or an hour to the historic town of San Sebastian in Spain which boasts many Michelin starred restaurants.

Driving to the Pyrenees in just over an hour unlocks the gorgeous scenery of the mountains, with plenty of hiking trails, or skiing in the winter months. St Jean de Pied a Port, the starting point for the Camino de Santiago, Navarrenx, a medieval fortified town, the historic and picturesque town of Sauveterre de Bearn, and Lourdes are all within easy driving distance.

Thermal Baths in Salies de Bearn

A trip to the Thermal Baths, famous for the curative effects of the water which has a very high natural salt content that is good for the spirit, body and health. A visit allows you access to the two pools, outdoor Jacuzzi's, indoor Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The pool has a variety of overhead waterfalls and underwater jets, and water bubble beds which you can use for massage. It also offers you a wide choice of exceptional treatments based on thermal water, with healthcare specialists onsite (reflexologist, osteopath, hypnotherapist…).

Wander around the morning markets to sample the delicious fresh regional produce, or indulge in the local delicacies. Stop for a coffee and a freshly baked croissant from the boulangerie while you soak up the atmosphere.
