'We have had a previous holiday here and we loved it even more the second time round'
'The children could be as noisy as they wished with no worries of disturbing any neighbours! Spent the day at the local theme park where there is plenty to do and half the cost of theme parks in the UK'
'As frequent visitors to France we have stayed in many gites and farmhouses and can honestly say that 'Theouliere' ranks in the top five.'
We have owned the property for over 15 years and it is regarded as a second home by our family. The house was restored in the 1960s by a French family who lived there until they relocated for work reasons. We have undertaken extensive modernisation during our ownership. There is mains water and electricity, electric oven, bottled gas hob and constant hot water from our oil fired boiler.
The front of the property is sheltered by an extensive veranda over the terrace, 2 further terraces catch the sun at all times of the day. The barbecue is adjacent both to the sheltered terrace and to a sunny terrace by the kitchen.
On entering the property, look upwards to the magnificent mezzanine gallery and the stunning beams supporting the roof. The downstairs sitting area by the open log fire has comfortable seating and the dining table accommodates 10.
Also on the ground floor is a spacious double bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and french windows on to the front terrace. The second large downstairs bedroom has twin beds and a built-in wardrobe. There is a huge bathroom with wash hand basin, bath with shower over. There is a separate wc.
The kitchen has a door to a sunny terrace and is adjacent to the barbecue. In addition to the previously mentioned cooking facilities, there is a microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and washing machine. There is an excellent supply of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans.
Upstairs are 2 further good sized bedrooms - 1 double with built-in wardrobe and 1 twin with plenty of storage. There is a second bathroom with wash-hand basin, bath with shower over and wc. A third wc is next to the bathroom.
The mezzanine gallery has a very comfortable sofabed, and an armchair, together with a wardrobe and drawers for storage. Tv and dvd. There is a large table and a selection of games (eg Scrabble and Halma) and a selection of jigsaw puzzles. Radio for cds and tapes.
Outside, the private pool is surrounded by the third terrace with sunloungers. There are 3 sets of tables and chairs which you can arrange in position on the terraces of your choice. There is about half an acre of maintained garden surrounding the house and a meadow surrounding the garden. This is a wonderful area for children to play in and affords plenty for their imaginations.
In the surrounding area there is golf, tennis, horse riding and canoeing. Many local farms sell honey, prunes, cheese and pate de fois gras. There are plenty of local vineyards offering wine-tasting as well as the opportunity to buy their wonderful products by the bottle, case or en vrac - which loosely translates as 'loose' i.e. in a large plastic container containing about 22 litres.
There are many excellent restaurants offering good value for money meals as well as some more exclusive restaurants, all within a 10 mile radius.
The absence of light pollution means that the night sky is very clear and those interested in astronomy should bring a telescope!
Theouliere is a gracious house and one of the things which pleases us is that over the years our visitors have referred to it as a 'happy house'. It is equally suitable for 2 people, families with babies and grandparents, 2 families or groups of friends. All these have visited in the past and we have many repeat bookings.

Children love this house! Yet its tranquillity is a perfect antidote to the stresses of modern life. Some disabled facilities.
Tranquil and beautiful countryside surrounds this house. Nearest neighbours are about a quarter of a mile away. The village of Verteuil has a shop which sells bread, milk, vegetables, biscuits etc, useful for day to day shopping. Tonneins has a Leclerc supermarket.

Can't praise this property enough. The setting is wonderful and the facilities provided excellent. We rarely ventured away from the house other than to restock on food and wine.
Theouliere is an idyllic getaway if you are after peace and tranquility in a stunning setting with sweeping views of the French countryside. We spent a week there with another family with young children in August. We had a fantastic time: swimming in the pool; playing rounders, badminton and boules in the big garden; having regular BBQs on the lovely terrace; and spotting wildlife (lizards, birds and deer). Theouliere is a beautiful old farmhouse with lots of tradional features but also has Wifi and DVD/ Satellite TV, which were useful when we got that urge to reconnect with the world or get the kids out of the sun. We also found the bedrooms spacious and the wooden window shutters were amazing at keeping the house cool.
Despite being in a rural setting, we found plenty of local amenities and things to do (a childrens farm and canoeing) and there are fabulous night markets nearby offering lovely local produce. We also went wine tasting and picked up some lovely great value wine. We found the owner to be prompt, thorough and professional. I appreciated the very comprehensive guide to the house and local area. It made our trip very easy. We will definitely return to Theouliere.
