About the Owner, Ms Julie Wake

Stephen Cormack and Julie Wake are the property owners and live discreetly on site.

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? We chose the location because of the peace, tranquility, space and views. The area was largely undiscovered in 2003, unlike its neighbouring department the dordogne and has remained refreshingly unspoilt by mass tourism but there is always plenty to do in the summer months. Although our location is rural and peaceful we are only a 10 minute drive from attractions and amenities. This is definitely the place to come to get back to nature, relax and unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life.
Unique benefits of property Space, tranquility, views, peaceful rural location.
Fabulous food and wine, the very best France has to offer.
Excellent facilities and equipment for families with babies, toddlers and children.
Centrally located in the Lot et Garonne in SW France to enable easy access to the region.
Good road and air links. (Bergerac airport is only 1 hour away, Bordeaux and Toulouse less than 2Hrs).

The Owner Recommends

Beautiful Bastides

For the adults the nearby pretty Bastide towns of Bergerac, Pujol, Penne d'Agenais and others are well worth a visit, as are the Chateaux at Bonaguil and Duras. Bordeaux, Toulouse and the broad sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast are within striking distance for a day-trip.

Local Attractions

Family friendly local attractions include watersports of all kinds on the River Lot from canoeing to fishing and everything in between, tree-top adventure parks, theme parks, children's farms, caves, go-karting and much more.

Things to do and see

There are 2 nearby villages, within easy cycling distance, to pick up bread and day to day groceries. There are several good supermarkets within a 10 - 15 minutes drive. Bustling local markets are piled high with fruit, veg and local produce all year round.

Waterlily Gardens at Le Temple Sur Lot

Our local village has a superb waterlily garden with landscaped grounds, lake and a superb restaurant with terrace overlooking the gardens. Open from April to October, why not cycle there from the property and have lunch.

Watersports at Castelmoron

Various activities at Castelmoron beach including motorised boats, canoes, pedalos and a cafe make this a great local spot.

Wine Tasting

Wine lovers are spoilt for choice with wine tasting available locally in the Duras, Sauterne, Marmande, Bergerac and Monbazillac areas as well as in Graves, Medoc and the picturesque medieval town of Saint-Emillion

Z'animoland

Come and feed the animals as well as bounce on the trampolines or have a go on the pedal cars. Plenty to entertain the little ones and a cafe serving snacks too.

9.7 / 10 All good family 22 August, 2016

This accommodation was perfect for our family set up. There was enough space to have time apart if one wanted to. There were plenty of alternative places to eat indoors, outside by the pool or undercover out of the midday sun. Beautiful idyllic countryside very peaceful. The boulangerie in the village was a daily must !! We all enjoyed our canoe trip on the river taking a picnic with us and eating it at the half way point-we saw kingfishers and several herons. The more adventurous in the family went to one of the tree-tops climbing places which made Go-Ape in the uk look a bit easy!! They also went to one of the water sport lakes jumping on and off the large inflatables-lots of fun. We frequented several different markets there seems to be one somewhere everyday. The night markets were great fun and a good way to experience street food the french way! The owners were very helpful their prepared lists of places to visit and how long it took to get there were very useful.

10 / 10 warwicktemple@btinternet.com 13 August, 2015

We were a party of 11 who, after a great deal of research, picked Las Cabanes in Temple sur Lot to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary as a family. Our party comprised 6 adults - ourselves and our 2 daughters plus their husbands and 5 grandchildren ( all girls ) whose ages ranged from 6 to 11. We picked Las Cabanes because of its quiet rural location, the quality of the accommodation on offer, the chance of good weather and plenty to keep adults and children amused both on-site and in the vicinity.

The location was superb; a mile or so from the nearest village and the whole surrounded by fields - an idyllic setting. Indeed, our youngest granddaughter, upon getting out of the car exclaimed "Nanny, this is the place of my dreams !".

Accommodation-wise the property offered all we could wish for; it was clean and comfortable permitting everyone to have their own space without getting on top of one another. There were very well equipped internal and external play areas where the children could amuse themselves in safety, and then there was the pool! - hardly ever out of use and catching the sun all day long - a mecca for children and adults alike.

Add to all this Julie and Steve's unobtrusive presence as and when required and we couldn't have picked better !!

We would thoroughly recommend Las Cabanes and the area to anyone with a family looking for a peaceful and very enjoyable holiday that we will all remember for years to come.
