The region is generally considered to be the gastronomic centre of France. The area is renowned for its foie gras, chestnuts and local farm produce and there are many excellent family run restaurants and auberges. Wine trails spread out in all directions offering the opportunity to visit Chateaux and buy direct. There are markets in the local villages where good quality produce can be purchased. During the summer months many of these villages hold fetes which provide further local colour with their lively parades and firework displays.
Tennis, fishing, lakes, numerous walks and mountain bike routes are just a few of the local activities which can be found on your doorstep.
For golf lovers there are two excellent courses a short drive away. Villeneuve-sur-Lot is a comprehensive golfing complex with both a championship length 18 hole course and a 9 hole course plus driving range. A bit further afield Chateau Vigiers has 27 holes in 3 loops of 9.

This is a really beautiful property. It has been thoughtfully designed and decorated inside. It was a real home from home. The house was very large for us (a family of 4) and the children loved the space - we played several very enjoyable games of hide and seek. It was clean and well supplied with a stock of towels. The kitchen work area was compact but there was a super American style fridge with cold water and ice dispenser and plenty of kitchen equipment. The double height ceilings in the entrance hall and living room kept the house cool even on the hottest days. The pool did not have a cover that we were allowed to use so when we arrived just after a few days of cooler weather, it was absolutely freezing and the children's lips literally went blue! However it warmed up over our stay and was fine by the afternoon each day. The house was amongst other houses and we felt a little self-conscious of the noise the children were making in the pool. There was an awning over the patio and a variety of loungers as well as an outside dining table. We also used the super gas bbq tucked round another corner of the house. The owner met us on arrival and popped by unobtrusively every few days in the morning to check the pool, empty the rubbish bins etc. It was quite a drive from Calais so we stopped off going down and coming back. We went to the Pizzeria in town and had a crepe in the local bar.
I'm delighted to know that you had a good holiday. Thank you for taking the time to make your review. I've asked the owner if he will ensure the pool can be covered at night during cooler evenings. It's not normally necessary during August but I totally appreciate you were unlucky with the weather during your first week. I hope it didn't spoil your holiday too much.
Wonderful property that fitted the bill for this first family holiday. The very spacious property had lots of areas the grandchildren took "ownership" of for their den space. A kitchen with everything we needed for our chef son to organise and cook the meals. Agen has lots of lively restaurants with street dining and wine bars which we all enjoyed. Our party consisted of 6 adults and three children aged from 3 to 8. Despite having an overnight stop in Calais with an early start, it was quite a lengthy journey. For our return journey, we had 2 overnight stays en route which meant we didn't get home needing another holiday. With food and toilet stops the journey down took 12 hours, we had fantastic weather, over the full two weeks. Would highly recommend this holiday home for a truly relaxing holiday.
Thank you for taking the time to comment on your holiday - we are delighted to learn that you had a great time - it's really important to us. We hope to hear from you again soon.
