We retired early in 2002 and were looking for a new project. Once we walked onto the land of Les Costes we knew we had found exactly what we were looking for. We completely renovated the cottage and lived there for 3 years whilst local artisans completely renovated the stone tobacco drying barn which is our home. We have been renting out the cottage since 2007 and each year have welcomed our summer clients.

Beautiful Medieval town well known for it's Grand Cru wines. Many bars and restaurants. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and just a few kilometres from where the last battle of the 100 years war was fought. Full of historical ambience
Lovely Bastide Town which holds a lively market on a Thursday. Many of our clients just enjoy sitting in the village square with a beer or a coffee and watching the world go by. There is also a good choice of restaurants
A lovely small town dominated by its beautiful and interesting Chateau. Built higher than the surrounding countryside meaning that the views are beautiful. Colourful market on a Monday. Couple of good restaurants and 2 or 3 bars
One of the larger Bastide Towns which holds a lively market on a Thursday. Sit in the market square and enjoy a lovely meal or just have a drink in the bar and watch the world go by. Wander around its little craft shops and look out over the beautiful surrounding countryside. Visit Chateau Byron on the way home
A beautiful city set along the river Garonne. Visit the wonderful shopping area featuring many designer shops. Full of restaurants and bars and lovely architecture.
A 2 hour journey but well worth the visit outside of July and August. Arcachon is a lovely town with a choice of restaurants overlooking the beach. The dunes de Pyla are the highest dunes in Europe and are difficult to describe because they are so awesome
Very spacious gite with excellent facilities. It has one large ensuite bedroom, well appointed kitchen, large lounge area with English TV system and DVDs. The patio with barbecue and drying rack is more than adequate. Access is given to the owners' large swimming pool and there are guest sun loungers both on the patio and in the pool area. It has all the comforts of home. The location is good, down a "private" lane less than a mile from a quiet road. Duras and Eymet are only a few miles away and each have well stocked mini supermarkets. Fuel is obtainable at the supermarkets. There are wineries nearby to visit. Visitors are pretty much guaranteed peace, quiet and relaxation. The English owners are charming and extremely helpful. We would recommend it to friends.
Les Costes was the perfect holiday for a couple in the Duras area in France. The accommodation, whilst being small was extremely comfortable and had everything required for a self catering holiday. The owners, Yvonne and Paul were very friendly but discrete.
We would certainly recommend this property to family and friends and intend to revisit sometime in the near future.
We had a fabulous 2 weeks at Les Costes. Yvonne and Paul were the most charming and helpful hosts - on hand if and when needed. Their local knowledge was extremely useful for planning day trips.
The availability of bikes for our use was a very welcome bonus and the pool was great for cooling down during the hottest days.
The accommodation was spacious, very well presented and fully equipped - a real home from home!
We would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet away from it all holiday. and certainly hope to be able to come back in the future.
We had a wonderful stay at Les Costes. Paul and Yvonne were amazing hosts who were not at all intrusive, but were there to help, or give advice on things to do in the area if they were needed. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we required. There was a lot of information on things to do in the area. We had some lovely days out visiting local towns and markets, a chateau and a vineyard. There are also a lot of nice walking and cycle routes in the area. After a day out it was always nice to return ‘home’ and have a refreshing dip in the spotlessly clean pool before firing up the BBQ. Although situated in a very rural area, there are a number of good supermarkets and restaurants within easy driving distance and a lovely bakery which is perfect for popping out to get croissants for breakfast. An added bonus was the company of the donkeys, cats and chickens, and feeding carrots and apples to the donkeys became a regular part of our day. I would definitely recommend Les Costes for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday in a beautiful location.
