I was born in Newcastle, moved to Liverpool when I was 8 years old. I studied hospitality management in Manchester university. I then worked and travelled all over the world, meeting my husband whilst working on the QE2. We spent several years in Austalia and New Zealand before returning to the UK. I spent several years working in the hospitality industry before joining Cheshire police, as a police officer. I took a career break when our twins Bede and Amelia were born in 2008.

|Why this location?||Having viewed hundreds of properties, within half an hour of where we were livin in Clairac, this property became available at a reduced price. We came to see this property and both me and my husband said "WOW" amazing!! We fell in love before we even looked inside the house. Location is amazing, close to all local amenities, supermarkets, day and night markets, outdoor activities, golf, theme park, 3 water parks, horse riding, cycling, canoeing, fishing. Lots of amazing restaurants and wine tasting. Our property is close to the historic town of Nerac famous chateaux of King Henry XI. We are within 11/2 hours drive to three airports, Bergerac, Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Our property in hidden from the road and very private, set in 2 acres backing onto the Landes forest. You can hear the odd tractor going past perhaps once a day!!! Such a peaceful location, yet lots to see and do.
|Unique benefits of property||Our property is stunning, set in two acres, overlooking the forest. We converted the gite from an existing cow barn, it overlooks an amazing private pool, exclusive for our guests. We designed the property " upside down" to benefit the views upstairs, also by having the bedrooms downstairs this keeps them cool in the summer months!!
An amazing location with many attractions, theme parks, water sports, restaurants, walks etc. Or just sit and relax by the pool, the choice is yours...

This is a fortified mill from the end of the 13th century which dominates the town centre and river bank..... It looks more like a castle than a mill, King Henry IV would often stay their.
Their is a fabulous event restaurant famous for great French food called Moulin des Saveurs, well worth a visit!!
What a gem and such fantastic people, we all felt like we have made new friends, the attention to detail did not go un-noticed from the meal on arrival to the basket of goodies , the immaculately kept pool area and the fabulous hosts , the recommendations locally of what to do and where to eat despite knowing the area we still discovered new places to go. Sleeping downstairs was an advantage as it was so hot and it stayed nice and cool so we were able to sleep. with the upstairs giving lovely views especially when we watched the thunder storm over night. We hope to return and highly recommend this gite and its lovely famiy.

Wow, this amazing property comes highly recommended!
The pictures, whilst nice, don't do it justice, it is clean and very well presented. We had a lovely warm welcome, and our children thought it was the best holiday they've ever had. Both bedrooms are en-suite, it overlooks vast countryside and we managed to see two deer, loads of birds (and a red squirrel on a day trip). The pool is totally private and the attractive garden has a large trampoline and a tree house that our children loved. We spent every evening sat by the pool, listening to the birds and crickets, and watching the stars.
We didn't know much about the local area and found it was delightful. Nérac, around 10 minutes drive away, is a beautiful, half-timbered, riverside town with several pretty churches and municipal buildings. There are so many photo opportunities it was hard to know where to point the camera. There are five tours suggested in the property, of which we did two and discovered lovely places. The locals were friendly and helpful when my French ran out. The local food, foie gras, cassoulet, Toulouse sausages etc and drink, Armagnac and wines were fantastic too. Practically, the roads were easy and all but the short, and quiet, drive from the main road to the house wide and passable. The local supermarket (5 minutes) was huge, well-stocked and reasonable.
Our friends have already asked for the details and I highly recommend you visit.
Thank yo so much for the lovely review, we enjoyed your visit and look forward to seeing you again soon.... Clare Duane Bede and Amelia
