About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Gabrielle Price

We are a young family with a daughter who moved to France in 2016 for a slower pace of life & of course the warmer climate! We have decided to rent out our newly renovated, beautiful family home and travel. We fell in love with the village and the area immediately with its sense of history and stunning countryside. On the practical side it is excellently situated to visit the sights and has great access to Bergerac and its airport and Bordeaux is just over an hour away.

Year property purchased 2016
Why this location? Its proximity to beautiful historic towns such as Eymet, Issigeac, Duras, Bergerac to name but a few, with their lively weekly markets and summer night markets, they are an attack on the senses. The endless stalls filled with fresh local produce and the smell of food cooking is incredible. During the day you can visit one of the numerous vineyards for wine tasting and buy a cheeky bottle or six direct! If the kids need entertaining you may consider a day at a swimming lake or my favourite is to take a canoe down the river and find a quiet spot for a picnic. If you happen to be a keen cyclist you will of course know that we are adjacent to a stage of the 'Tour de France' and (I'm told) it's exhilarating to follow the course for as long as you can manage! If that's not your thing, perhaps you may like to visit one of the numerous caves in the morning & lunch at a riverside restaurant. Then in the afternoon have a stroll around one of the plentiful parks or Chateaux, Lauzun has both!

The house if fully equipped for your comfort and we provide bed linen and towels along with a welcome pack to ensure your arrival is as stress free as possible. The Owner Recommends

Issegiac Sunday Market

Just over 15 minutes away is the charming medieval village of Issigeac which hosts one of the best markets in the area. Full of stunning local produce from the sweetest local strawberries to truffles, fois gras, duck breast and oysters.
Issigeac doesn't have a centre as such, rather a series of narrow winding streets lined with fascinating ancient buildings taking you back to the 16th century.
Issigeac really is a village not to be missed if you are in this part of the Dordogne.

Visit Bergerac!

Park on the south bank, walk over the bridge through the winding medieval streets to the market surrounding Eglise Notre-Dame. Here you will discover the best the Perigord region has to offer of local produce ranging from fruit and vegetables to a variety of meats. You will find everything you need for a weeks dining perhaps bar breakfast. Once you've enjoyed a morning ambling around the market, you can head back into the winding rows and alleys of the historic old town and find one of the many set menus that takes your fancy. Once you have whiled away 2 or 3 hours over your three or four courses and local wines, maybe you could hop on one of the famous river cruises along the Dordogne river or perhaps walk along the north bank. If you still have energy after this, head back home, refresh and then head on out to the nearest marche nocturne (night markets) where you will find hundreds of people savouring the varied delights offered by numerous food vendors (and not a doner kebab in sight!)

Soumensac’s Marchés des Producteurs

On a beautiful hilltop, vendors sell and prepare simple but delicious regional specialities. You’ll find just about every kind of duck product, all kinds of barbecued meats, garlicky snails, the tastiest of frites, fresh salads and artisan breads, crêpes, sumptuously sweet fruits and of course, plenty of regional wine!
Long tables are set out under the tall trees with amazing views of the surrounding countryside whilst you enjoy all that this region has to offer.
