About this property

16th Century Country House Surrounded by 6 acres. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Pie Pasquie is a 16th century manoir, formerly a presbytery, set within 6 acres - perfect for a family looking for peace and quiet. The property is situated on the outskirts of the small village of Vares just north of Tonneins on the banks of the river Garonne (accessible by Bordeaux and Bergerac airports) in the heart of the French countryside, the area is known as a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. Vares offers a local store (selling bread and newspapers), a convenience store and a bar. Tonneins hosts a large selection of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and weekly markets. Pie Pasquie has huge grounds and a fenced and gated garden and pool area for safety....plenty of space for football, cricket and any other games you can think of.
Tastefully refurbished yet retaining a number of its original features including the original stone staircase, oak beams and pigeonnier tower, Pie Pasquie has been lovingly brought into the 21st century with a fitted kitchen complete with all integrated appliances including oven, hob, microwave, large American style fridge/freezer with ice maker and cold water dispenser, dishwasher and washing machine. The ground floor is open-plan with a wood burning stove which complements the under-floor heating, you'll also find a large dining table. The living area has one of two UK Freeview TVs, DVD/CD and internet access. There is also a downstairs WC.

This is such a great area for fishing enthusiasts. The lake in Vares, where Pie Pasquie is situated, has sizeable carp, tench, perch, roach, rudd and pike. This is a 2-3 minute drive away or can be walked. The river Garonne and river Lot, within 10 and 20 minutes respectively, have large carp, black bass, pike and catfish. In fact the river Lot holds lots of records....more info can be found on the internet. You can buy a holiday fishing permit locally for around €20.

You are a 15 minute drive from Casteljaloux with its lovely lake which has a sandy 'beach', pedalos and waterslides with the best attraction being the inflatable assault course. There is a bar for refreshments and there are plenty of picnic tables and benches. Marmande Filhole Parc is great for children - a large expanse of fields, football, cycling and skateboarding to name but a few. There is also a 'beach', cafe and water sports.

The nearest tennis court is in Tonneins, which is the nearest market town about 10-15 minutes drive away on the banks of the river Garonne - a very pretty town with supermarket, shops restaurants and bars.

Aside from the plentiful vineyards in the region, the area is well known for its plums and prunes. Nature lovers can enjoy the wildflowers and birds as well as the undulating countryside which is perfect for walking.

For the golfers there is an 18 hole championship course at Villeneuve Sur Lot Golf and Country Club and at Tombeboeuf there is a 9 hole golf course with practice area and a pro shop. Both golf courses have clubs, trolleys and buggies for hire.

Agen, apart from its renowned art museum, has Park Walibi, a big amusement park that is always fun for the children. At Clairac there is the Magic Forest, again great fun for the children. The Magique Chaudron at Brugnac is a must for the children - this is an angora goat farm where the children can help to bottle feed the kids at certain times of the year and even help with the milking and cheese making.

Further local activities include fishing, boat trips, microlight flying, canoeing, kayaking, leisure lakes, castles, fortified churches, bastide villages, wine tasting, daily markets, evening markets, caves, grottos, potteries and local farms selling their own produce - there is so much to see and do.
