We are both retired, we spent 3 years looking for the right house in France and found Teyssie, so we have a lovely home and super gite. We have four grandsons, two in the UK and two who live locally. We enjoy the life, playing golf and generally working on the gardens here, plus the french food and not to mention the wine...
|Year property purchased||2012|
|Why this location?||My husband always wanted to retire to France, so when the time was right we started looking, we knew we wanted this area as we would be able to get to the UK quickly if we wanted to,and its easy to get here. Then we saw how scenic it was here, weather is great, we are close enough to Villeneuve sur lot for all our shopping, it has everything.
Its only half an hour to Bergerac airport. We have lots of places to visit and some good restaurants. We feel it has everything we need and of course our guests have lots to explore and enjoy.
|Unique benefits of property||The property is tranquil, it has its own garden so guests have their privacy and of course benefits from the new private swimming pool which we had installed in 2016 in an old ruin, as its roofless the sun shines down on the holidaymaker and its ideal. We feel the gite provides all any holiday maker may require. Also there is a good welcome pack for our guests... yes and wine is there at the ready.|
This small town has an amazing market on a Saturday morning with market stalls full of food, gifts, clothes, handbags etc. Then evening food markets on a Monday evening in July and August, where you grab a table and then the food is cooked by stall holders around the town square, go and select your food and drink and join your table and enjoy a busy social evening.
Beautiful medieval hilltop village with lots of restaurants, art gallery, gift shops, church and in the summer there is an evening food market. Pujols has amazing 360 views of the area. Certainly worth visiting.
A medieval bastide village, again restaurants, old church, evening food market in July & August with live entertainment. An interesting place to visit, the children will love the shops with medieval outfits and toys for sale! A very informative tourism office
Lots of restaurants to chose from, a scenic town steeped in history. The Dordogne river flows through it centre, Endless shops especially chocolate shops.
On the outskirts of the old town there are an excellent range of larger outlets for all your needs.
A medieval chateau that is basically in ruins but what fun to visit, you can feel the history as you walk around the towers and underground areas. . Great views from the battlements. We spent one Boxing Day there with a picnic.
This is my favorite restaurant, lunch time menus are a bit cheaper as they are in most french restaurants. Its ideal for adults as the food , I think maybe too fancy for children, and its about two hours for a meal so they might get a bit bored. Its not cheap but we love it for special occasions. The owner is wonderful and talks you through each course and very courteous. The restaurant overlooks the River Lot, its peaceful, great food and wine and nothing is too much trouble. You come away feeling relaxed.
Its rope swings in the sky.... a great area for the adventurous. lost of different rope bridges, climbing nets, zip wires and a challenge for those who feel energetic. There are different levels for different ages/ability. lots of seating areas to sit and watch the ones who want to test their fitness..
A huge swimming lake, in the peak season there are life guards in the afternoon, boats to hire, a pontoon to swim to. Sandy beach for the little ones to play on and you can get refreshments there also. Prices are quite cheap in July & August, other months are free but of course less facilities. Plenty of car parking available.
