My name is Elaine Taylor and my husband is Stephen. We bought our beautiful 13 th century house in Monflanquin in 2001 and have loved visiting it as often as we can.
Now that we have four grandchildren it is our home from home in France which the whole family love to use and explore this beautiful area of France amongst sunflowers, vineyards and chateau's inbetween the Dordogne and Lot rivers.
We can accommodate 7 people comfortably and have a lovely roof terrace to take in the views .
|Year property purchased||2001|
|Why this location?||Because we have spent a lot of holidays when our own boys were young with our caravan. We always looked in estate agent windows dreaming to own our own property. We took the step in 2001 when we spotted our house and have never regretted our decision. We can fly to Bergerac, Bordeaux or Limoges and be sitting having a cool beer at the local bar just a few steps from our house within a couple of hours. Monflanquin has it all. Our house is just off the very pretty square with excellent restaurants serving the local dishes of Duck or Prunes to a very high standard. There is a weekly market with the best lettuces I have ever seen. In the summer there are night markets where you can buy the produce including your wine for you tea and take a seat at a tressel table all set out for you followed by music. If you want to swim there are lots of pools and lakes not far away.
The architecture is fantastic with beautiful chateau's and pretty bastides which Monflanquin is one of the prettiest.
|Unique benefits of property||It is very central for everyday living near bakers butchers restaurants banks etc.
It is a 13 th century three storey property with a roof terrace with beautiful views over the countryside.
The best wine available in France from Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cahors.
Fantastic very high standard restaurants but also family budget restaurants.
The weather is a big plus as it is a lovely warm climate with plenty of sun.
Lots to do in the area from canoeing on the rivers to visiting chateau's and wine tasting at the markets. Cycling around the beautiful countryside, walking amongst the sunflowers and picnicking wherever you find a quiet spot. Further afield we are 2 hours from the Pyrenees and the coast of western France. Going towards the Mediteranean taking in Carcassonne would be 2.5 hrs away.
Bergerac which is our nearest airport 30 mins away where you can hire a car. Although it is better to take the car so that you can return with all that lovely wine with no other Brittany Ferries
Monflanquin is a beautiful place to stay and your days will always be filled with happy memories of your holiday.
The square has restaurants at every corner.
Any restaurant in Monflanquin will not disappoint.
There is a weekly Thursday market and in the summer month there are additional night time markets. There are markets in nearby towns/ villages on various days of the week.
There are historic Bastides, Castles and Chateau's in abundance.
The wonderful rivers of The Dordogne and The Lot are nearby to enjoy either canoeing, river cruises or just having a relaxing picnic with a glass of red.
Plenty of vineyards to visit including wine tasting.
Cycling is great.
Plus walking and horse riding.
There are art, cookery and wine tasting courses nearby.
