|Why this location?||The house is secluded, yet quite close to the village. The area is quiet with little traffic, but there are plenty of lovely places to visit nearby.|
|Unique benefits of property||Meydieu is our home from home. We spend about three months a year living at Meydieu, so we make sure the house has everything needed for a comfortable stay. It's a great place to chill out with nobody around to bother you.|
The beach at Lac de Lougratte is about 8km away and is open from the middle of June until the end of August. The water is safe for swimming and there is a lifeguard in attendance. Activities include paddle boats and a playground. There is also a snack bar and picnic area.
The closest canoeing is at Casseneuil on the river Lot. Canoes can also be hired at Puy L'Evêque.
The are a number of places a little further afield on the Dordogne too.
There are a number of well known vineyards around Bergerac and Duras, but one of our favourites is the little know producer Le domaine Lou Gaillot at Casseneuil. The walk round the vineyard is especially interesting for children as there are notice boards around the vineyard explaining the process. It only takes about half an hour, and of course you are welcome to taste and buy wine. I particularly like their white wine "Elegance" http://lougaillot.com/
We have just returned from our second three week stay at Meydieu. There is an excellent welcome pack, the house is very comfortable, the garden and pool are lovely. We met the owners briefly, they were most helpful, and the house is beautifully clean and tidy. One of our party described it as a 'little slice of French paradise'. What more can I say.
Thank you for the kind review. It was a real pleasure to meet you, and I hope we will see you again.
Return to Meydieu August 2018
We were one of the first visitors to Meydieu when it first came available to rent. Usually in September when the summer heat had subsided and our grown up family and partners all came to stay and we had a great time. Marvellous place to stay super bedrooms and dinning area, five minutes to the village for bread in the morning. Golf course just up the road. After our first few years they installed a swimming pool which in the heat of the season would be great. We had 5 or six good years at Meydieu. Then it stopped. Grandchildren were born it wasn't so easy for us all to get away together. So when returning with Grandchildren this year in August (School hols) after 5 years away we wondered how we would find the place and how we would get on. No need to have worried the place was just as great as we remembered, the kids loved the pool and we all had a brilliant holiday.
Brilliant in all aspects, simple as that. We had a lovely holiday and were not let down in any way, the only down side was that we had to leave and go home.
Thank you for letting us stay.
It was a real pleasure to have you stay at Meydieu, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay.
A lovely well equipped and spacious farmhouse in large beautiful grounds. We loved every minute of our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to return.
Thank you for the lovely review. We hope to see you again soon.
