About this property

Peaceful And Well Equipped Gite With Pool. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

This lovely newly refurbished gite with pool is peacefully situated in the grounds of the owners' property, near to the popular Romanesque village of La Sauvetat du Dropt in Lot-et-Garonne.

The gite sleeps six in 3 double bedrooms and 1 twin bedroom, there's a double sofa bed in the lounge if required. There are 2 bath/shower rooms and a well equipped kitchen, separate lounge with UK TV and sunny and shaded terraces. Set in rolling countryside the gite offers peace and quiet, lovely views and a private pool with sunbeds and parasols.

The town of Duras with its famous château steeped in history is also nearby. The medieval bastide villages of Eymet and Miramont-de-Guyenne are 5 to 10 minutes drive, where you will find a good selection of restaurants and supermarkets. Every day of the week there are traditional markets selling local produce in near by villages and during summer there are night markets and soirées gourmandes where you can while away an al fresco evening dining while being accompanied by live music.

The surrounding countryside is very pleasant for walking and cycling. It is situated close to many excellent wine growing areas (Bergerac, Saussignac, Monbazillac, Duras) and we can advise on wine-tasting visits. The internationally acclaimed vineyards of St Emilion (1 hour) and the Medoc (2 hours) are well worth a visit. There is an 18 hole golf course at Chateau Vigiers (20 mins) and a local 9-hole course (10 mins). Bergerac airport is a leisurely 30 minute drive, Bordeaux around 1.5 hours.

The Owner Recommends

Local markets

The local markets are always worth a visit. The market at Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is one of the largest in the area and is on a Saturday. Eymet's market is not to be missed and is on a Thursday, Duras and Miramont's markets are on a Monday and the market at Issigeac on a Sunday is always very busy so try to get there early. Evening markets in the summer months are great to visit.

Chateau visits

The chateau at Duras, only a few minutes away by car is well worth visiting and during the summer months hosts many different events. Head east of the property along the Dordogne valley and visit the impressive chateaux of Biron, Beynac and Castelnaud-la-Chapelle.

Beautiful villages

East of the area is home to some of the most beautiful villages in France. Named as some of 'Les plus beaux villages de France', Belves, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Monflanquin and Monpazier are all worth a visit.

Beautiful gardens

The Jardins de Marqueyssac are beautiful, and the view from the viewing platform across the Dordogne valley towards La Roque-Gageac is spectacular.
