The house is situated in a quiet street in central Duras, offering easy accessibility to all conveniences.
Duras is nestled deep in the country in the heart of the Aquitaine, one of the most beautiful parts of France.
80 kms. from Bordeaux, 30 kms. from St. Emilion, reputed for its high quality wines, 40 kms. from Bergerac.
The nearest large town is Marmande, a typical SW market town, 25 kms. from Duras. The splendid Château de Duras, 12thC, is 100 metres from the house.
The house sleeps 4 - two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two single beds. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the livingroom has a magnificent view of the Dropt valley.

The floors in the main bedroom and livingroom are pine parquet with a bright red rug, and the bathroom, hall and kitchen are an attractive old-wood type washable surface.

The sun comes in in the mornings; the decor is cheery and appealing.
The livingroom is comfortably furnished, with the lovely English chintz-covered comfortable armchairs that belonged to a tradition that is timeless.
There is a bar, usually a welcoming bottle of the local wine (Berticot) and satellite English and French tv.
There is a magnificent view of the Dropt valley from the window.
The main bedroom sports a double bed dating back to early 19th Century - that is, ornate and lovely - with a comfortable new mattress, I hasten to add! The room has also the view of the Dropt valley.
A wardrobe is supplied, etc.
The bathroom is next to this bedroom.
The bathroom is fitted with bath and shower, sink.
The tiles are a beautiful pistachio green, with white on upper half. Good for Zen, I was told!

During the holiday season, Duras is alive with fêtes and animations. In France every village and town has its special fête or activity. There is never a lack of things to do and places to discover surprising activities! Or you can always find quiet nooks in beautiful surroundings just to sit in a tranquil setting. There are abundant walks around. A wide range of sporting activities abound in the Duras area, and concerts are regular in the surrounding towns. If you come off-season, the Marmande Philharmonic orchestra plays regularly in the château of Duras - a beautiful setting for beautiful music. Wine-tasting is available at any number of the local wine-growers - they surround the area, and will welcome you. Once a year, around the time of the grape harvest, Duras invites the local growers to offer their wine for tasting in the château - a fun experience. You will receive a wine glass upon entering, and can offer it to any of the exposants inside for a taste of their product!
Being in the centre of the village, there is no garden.
However, the château being only 100 metres away, its lovely grounds are open to all, with picnic facilities and quiet spots.
There is a private garage under the house, with easy access.
The house is on the ground level - no stairs - and suitable for children as well as the handicapped.
I do not allow parties in the house, and no smoking or animals please.
