About this property

A Rural Smallholding, With An Enviable Location. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Quatre Chemins is a rural smallholding in the Lot et Garonne, with an enviable location overlooking the Lac de Graoussettes.
Situated in undulating countryside amid fields of sunflowers, maize and plum orchards, the recently renovated 3 bedroom farmhouse sits in the middle of 3.5ha, with a detached 1 bedroom gite that has it's own private access. Quatre Chemins is a family home which is let out during June, July and August.
The owners remain on site, in the gite, to continue to run the smallholding. (For the rest of the year, the gite is available to rent.) If you like collecting fresh eggs, picking sun-warmed tomatoes, stroking a cat, walking your dog from the door, hand feeding sheep, grooming a pony or donkey or just chilling by the pool looking over the lake, then this could be the holiday location for you!

The house has 3 large bedrooms, two with king size beds, and one with a double and a single. There is a family bathroom with roll top bath, and a separate walk through toilet and shower which is “en suite” to the second bedroom. The breakfast kitchen is fully equipped with range cooker, American style fridge freezer and dishwasher. A washing machine is available for guest use in a washroom. The dual aspect living room has 3 sofas and a tv with English Freeview tv.

Outside there is a lovely south facing terrace with bbq and dining furniture and views down over the land and the lakes.
The fabulous new pool is totally private with views over the surrounding countryside and lake. 8m x 4m and secured by an alarm, it has roman steps at one end and is 1.4m deep, surrounded by south facing sun terraces. The garden area and courtyard is totally enclosed, and is surrounded by our land and animals. There are paths around the paddock and hay field and direct access to the lake side.
There is a further covered terrace across the courtyard which is ideal for catching the morning sun or sheltering from the midday heat. Further information on Quatre Chemins is available on our website or Facebook page Quatrechemins47.
By prior arrangement, well behaved pets are welcome at QC - it is idyllic for them too.
But please note that the cats/hens and ducks are free range around the garden. The pony, donkey, sheep and goats are in the paddocks adjoining the garden and we ask that dogs are put on a lead when walked through these paddocks.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Judith Jenkins

In 2015 my husband and I handed in our notices, sold our smallholding in North Yorkshire, and came to start a new life in France. A teacher and administrator respectively, we had always had the dream of one day living in France. In 2015 a combination of events and factors made us think "If not now, when?"

Why this location? We started our search in the Lot et Garonne because it was an area we didn't know. We fell in love with the beautiful, undulating countryside and the climate and as soon as we saw Quatre Chemins we knew it was for us. As they say, "Location, location, location"
Unique benefits of property The views from the property are lovely, looking down over two lakes, with walks straight from the door. Secluded, but not isolated, we are close to some of the most beautiful villages and towns in France - not to mention world famous vineyards!

Bastide villages

We are surrounded by beautiful bastide villages, the closest being our local village of Lauzun. Not only are there daily markets in the area, during the summer season each village hosts Repas Gourmandes evenings. You take your cutlery and crockery (picnic basket provided at QC) and go and sample local dishes - and wine, eating out in medieval streets.
