About this property

Romantic Stay in Unique, Stunning Lakeside Location. This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

One of 2 beautiful, newly renovated stone houses designed for couples, set in a truly unique location in Southern France. Overlooking two lakes - both nature reserves and bird sanctuaries - the house is 10 minutes from Beaumont du Perigord/Monpazier/Villereal, set in peaceful, unspoiled French countryside. Watch the sun rise over the lake to the east, before taking a dip in the 30 foot pool, then later on enjoy a glass of local wine on the sun terrace while watching the sun set to the west.

The space

The house has been lovingly restored from top to bottom, by the two of us. We designed the space to provide a contemporary feel whilst retaining the magic of the old building.

The house is set in 2 acres of totally private land, not overlooked as it is surrounded by tall, mature trees. There are unobstructed, panoramic views to the east and west, both overlooking large lakes and nature reserves.

The building is split in to three parts; one of which is our house, and the second and third are both holiday homes. We wish to provide a peaceful, romantic setting for our guests and the houses have been designed with the perfect couples' retreat in mind.

There is a large pool which overlooks the lake to the east. There will be few pools in France with a better view!

The house enjoys a large private terrace, protected from the sun, which is perfect for al fresco dining or simply relaxing with a glass of wine.

Inside, a double height ceiling over the kitchen and dining area provides a wonderfully light indoor space. The bedroom and en suite overlook the downstairs space, providing a modern twist to the old stone building.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mr Andy Wilson - Taylor

Andy & Jasmine - we are a young, married couple who moved to France to seek a better quality of life. We purchased the property in 2018 in a total state of disrepair, and set about rebuilding and renovating it all ourselves over the course of the following year. Every part of this property has been lovingly renovated by the two of us, and we've put our hearts and souls into making it as wonderful as it can be.

Year property purchased 2018
Why this location? The house is uniquely situated; close by to three stunning bastide towns - Villereal, Monpazier and Beaumont du Perigord - while also benefiting from the peace and tranquility the countryside provides.

There is no light or noise pollution, which makes for an unbeatable night of star gazing.

Both lakes are an easy walk from the house - we walk our dogs around them each day - and offer an often totally private experience of the French countryside. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area and the lakes are especially good for bird watching.

The lake to the west is accessed by a memorial monument, built to commemorate the resistance fighters that lived in a house there during the second world war.

The quiet roads that surround the area are great for gentle bicycle rides past the sunflower fields.

We are 8 minutes drive from Villereal, where you will find a large selection of restaurants, cafes, boulangeries (of course) and a fantastic night market in the summer.
