|Why this location?||We fell in love with Grand Pailley Bas in June this year and are delighted to finally be living in this wonderful region of France. It has everything you could want, from peace and tranquillity, to the lively night markets which run daily throughout the summer. There are great links to Bordeaux and Bergerac airports, and rail links to Toulouse and Paris nearby.
The area is very peaceful and there are many bastide towns within a short distance including Eymet and Duras.
As a foodie, there are some great restaurants in the region and lets not forget the wine. The local winery in Duras offers some exceptional varieties.
As an avid golfer, Neil is looking forward to showing guests what the local courses have to offer, including the renowned 27 holes at Chateaux Des Vigiers.
|Unique benefits of property||Peace, tranquillity, panoramic views, sunflowers (generally July) and a swimming pool. Allemans du Dropt (2km away), a pretty village with a baker, butcher, shop, cafe and bar and not forgetting kayaking on the river Dropt.|
A beautiful cobbled Roman town which is one of the most famous wine capitals in the world. Enjoy a tour of the chateaux enjoying fine wines and learning about the process of production. Soak up the atmosphere of the picturesque town/village with a lovely lunch. Don't forget your camera!
There are a multitude of night markets in the local Bastide towns nearby where you can wander round the vendors with your plates and cutlery and choose what you would like to eat. Dining is generally on long tables and the evenings are very sociable affairs. There is often live music and the opportunity to get up and dance the night away if you wish.
Canoeing is a great way to see the area from a different perspective. Meander either the river Dropt (very close by) or drive a bit further to the river Dordogne and marvel at the many chateaux which line the river. Enjoy the peace and tranquility and witness the sheer beauty of the region. This is a great family day trip.
There are a number of vibrant markets nearby.
Enjoy mingling with both tourists and locals through the colourful and fresh produce that France has to offer and finding lovely crafts to purchase as presents or to treat yourselves.
Details of all the markets are in our guest information pack.
This beautiful and vibrant city has everything to offer as it is extremely cosmopolitan with an efficient tram service making getting around very simple.
The water mirror is a must. It is next to the river and produces magnificent reflections as it rotates from being a mirror where both children and adults alike frolic and paddle. Everyone then disappears in fog as the water turns to steam. A magnificent photo opportunity here.
There are numerous wonderful restaurants where you can enjoy a gourmet or casual lunch sitting on pavements, cobbled streets and courtyards watching the world pass by.
Bordeaux is approximately a 1 hour 30 minute drive from the gite.
A fabulous day out with lots of lovely shops as well.
A magical setting 30 minutes from the gite, for golf, relaxation, spa and a gastronomic feast. A 27 hole golf course set in stunning surroundings. The bar and restaurant are very welcoming and Neil looks forward to showing keen golfers around.
