About this property

Beautiful, Stylish Stone Cottage With Lovely Views . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

The cottage is the oldest part of our property and was originally the farm house, dating back 250 years!
The property benefits from open plan living downstairs whilst upstairs you will find the master mezzanine bedroom, a double bedroom, third smaller bedroom plus the large shower room.
Outside, the property has a private dining area with beautiful views across to the little village of Montaut and it’s church tower.
The large swimming pool is shared only with our other rental property... a two bedroom newly converted cow barn which will be ready for summer 2020.

Having 3 daughters of our own, we know that happy kids equal happy parents so we have a large trampoline, rope swing plus lots of age appropriate toys.
We even have friendly ponies, guinea pigs and hens to help feed!

Kitchen and dining

Our kitchen area includes a brand new range cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and all utensils needed to whip up a tasty meal.
The large dining table seats 8 comfortably and for al fresco dining there is a private dining area.

Living rooms

The open plan living area is the perfect place to catch up on Netflix via our smart tv. Fancy reading a book whilst sunbathing? We have hundreds of novels to choose from!

The master bedroom is a mezzanine bedroom which is open to the kitchen area below.
The second bedroom is a double overlooking the pool area.
The third bedroom contains a single bed but an additional bed can be installed on request.

The large shower room has been recently refitted and contains a double shower, sink and wc.

The cottage benefits from wi-fi, smart tv and UK Freeview.

Garden and outside

Both the cottage and the barn have private eating areas, the large shared pool has plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing.
We are lucky to have a path that is not accessible by car and leads straight to Montaut village - just a few minutes walk away.
Each morning, you can enjoy a stroll to the award winning boulangerie in Montaut for fresh pastries for breakfast.
On Fridays during July and August, you can stroll into the village as Montaut holds a night market where the little village square is turned into an open air restaurent and you can enjoy locally produced burgers and other locally produced food and wine before dancing at the little open air disco... not bad for a village of less than 300 habitants.

Parking and garages

We have parking for several cars.

Visitor suitability

Unfortunately the property is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the bedrooms/bathroom being located on the first floor.
We pride ourselves on being a family friendly property.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Gemma Kelly

After falling in love with this gorgeous region two years ago, my husband and I, along with our 3 daughters moved into Thome, where we share our home with four lovely hens, guinea pigs, two rescue cats and three beautiful horses and ponies.
Every day we wake up feeling lucky to live in such a beautiful place and it’s a pleasure to share this feeling with our guests.
Following years working in customer service, we pride ourselves on making your holiday truly wonderful.

Year property purchased 2018
Why this location? Perfectly placed between a number of beautiful bastide villages including Villereal, Monflanquin, Monpazier and Issigeac and only a few minutes drive from a lovely little lake beach which has been awarded France’s highest water rating.
We are an easy 35 minute drive to Bergerac airport and you can reach Bordeaux and Toulouse in 2 hours.
We are within a 10 minute drive of two supermarkets and bastide towns with many amenities yet our location means no passing traffic or road noise... allowing full relaxation to enjoy the peace and tranquility that drew us to this area.
Unique benefits of property After viewing over 50 properties, we finally found exactly what we were looking for here at Thome.
With beautiful views across the sunflower fields to the church tower in our little village of Montaut, the feeling of peace and tranquility is infectious; even our neighbours feel like they are on holiday when they come to visit us!
The cottage is the oldest part of the property and was the original dwelling before the maison de maitre (where we live) was built at the end of the 18th century.
The cottage has been updated and is beautifully decorated yet retains the original features including the front door which dates over 200 years.
The cow barn next door will soon be available to rent and is a wonderful double height space offering two bedrooms... perfect if you are thinking of coming away with friends or family.
Each of our three properties has a sense of privacy due to the thoughtfully planned entrances and private eating areas.

The Owner Recommends

Lac de Lougratte

Lovely warm freshwater lake with the benefits of lifeguard supervision during July and August. Fun waterslide and little playground for the kids plus pedalos and a pontoon to swim out to. Picnics are well catered for with numerous picnic tables and bbq areas although the popular little snack bar is open daily.

La Marmille

This local restaurent has a great little soft play area which is perfect for younger kids on either rainy days or if the weather outside is too hot for the little ones.

Maggies Coffee Shop

Our local coffee shop provides the best coffee in the area! Excellently located next to the beautiful church in Villereal, just off the main square. The daily plat du jour menu is always delicious... as is the abudance of home made cakes.

Chocolateria Rody

Kids and adults alike love a visit to the chocolate factory! With a little musuem tour of how chocolate is made and an activity area for children, plus a chocolate shop, cafe and a separate restaurant.

Le Moderne

Popular restaurant in the square in Villeréal. Open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals or just to enjoy a beverage in the sunshine. Packed on market days so grab a good spot for people watching early!
