About this property

La Grange, Barn in Beautiful Countryside, Beaches/Ports Nearby. This cottage/gite is in a coastal setting.

La Grange is a handsome stone building which has been converted to a high standard. It is set in lovely unspoilt coastal countryside between the Belon and Aven rivers and close to the sea. There is little local traffic as the properties are located off a quiet no-through road in a conservation area. There are numerous beautiful, safe, sandy beaches and attractive fishing ports nearby.
The picturesque artists' town of Pont-Aven is within 5km and offers a wide choice of galleries, restaurants and bistros to suit  all tastes. The walled town of Concarneau and Quimper are within an easy drive. The South Brittany coastal path is a 5 minute walk from the houses. The area generally, offers a number of quiet country roads suitable for family cycling and there is a network of signed off-road cycle tracks.
La Grange is a very spacious detached barn sleeping from 2 to 10 plus baby. Reduced prices are available for smaller groups renting outside school holidays. With 3 bathrooms, it is well suited to couples wishing to holiday together but who would appreciate the extra space and privacy the house affords. The house has 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the first floor. There is an additional twin bedroom with large adjoining shower room and wc, quietly located on the ground floor. Also on the ground floor is a large, well equipped kitchen/dining room. The spacious, beamed sitting room has french windows leading on to the large, private lawn at the front. It is furnished with comfortable sofas, stereo and an attractive wood burning stove. There is also a second sitting room with English Freesat tv and dvd player. To the rear of the property is a useful utility/storage room which houses the washing machine.
Independent and private, La Grange is one of 4 former farm buildings another of which is also holiday accommodation owned by us. The remaining 2 buildings are owned by our French neighbour but currently unoccupied. Farming here has ceased but the setting of a very attractive Breton farm, complete with a covered well and gravelled yard, remains.
La Grange has a lawned area to the front of the house and a large patio and orchard to the rear, leading on to the communal grounds of over one acre. A boules pitch and table tennis table are available for the use of guests.

Kitchen and dining

La Grange has a pine dining table which comfortably seats 10.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a large fridge-freezer, second smaller fridge, oven with hob, dishwasher and microwave. There is an ample supply of glasses, serving dishes and china for 10 people.

The washing machine is located in the adjacent utility/store room.

Living rooms

Both sitting rooms in La Grange have comfortable sofas, and the main living room has an effective Jotul wood burning stove, with logs provided. The second sitting room houses the tv with English Freesat channels and the dvd player. There are electric radiators in each room. The ground floor area is tiled throughout for ease of maintenance and the upstairs landing and rooms benefit from attractive, smooth wooden floors.

There is a large twin bedroom on the ground floor with an adjacent shower room and wc. This has been a favourite choice for grandparents holidaying with their families as it is slightly separated from the rest of the bedrooms. There are 2 double and 2 twin bedrooms on the first floor. All the bedrooms are furnished in pine. Each bed has a duvet with protector and 2 pillows per person. We provide mattress and pillow protectors and bathmats. We ask clients to bring their own bed linen and personal towels.

We provide cots, highchairs and stairgates for the use of clients with babies and small children.

La Grange has a large shower room and separate wc on the ground floor, adjacent to the ground floor twin bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor, one at either end of the landing. One has a shower cubicle and the second has a bath with shower over. These serve the 2 double and 2 twin bedrooms on the first floor.

There are electric radiators in each room and for spring and autumn stays, clients benefit from the effective wood burning stove with logs provided.

There is a large selection of books, boardgames and a cd player. La Grange also has English Freeview satellite tv and dvd player with some dvds, though guests may wish to bring their own.

Garden and outside

The property has its own patio and private garden with garden furniture and large barbecue. There is direct access to over an acre of communal garden where there is a boules pitch and table tennis table. Boules and table tennis equipment are provided.

Parking and garages

Just off the driveway there is a designated parking area serving the houses which has ample space for several cars.

Visitor suitability

La Grange is suitable for the larger group or families and is frequently used for 3 generation holidays. However, during mid and low seasons it has often been used by couples wishing to holiday together but who prefer to have their own bathroom and who enjoy the extra space. Out of high season, discounts may be available for smaller groups.
