About this property

L'Ecurie, Cottage in Beautiful Countryside, Beaches/Ports Nearby. This cottage/gite is in a coastal setting.

L'Ecurie is one of a pair of semi-detached gîtes sympathetically converted from a handsome natural stone former farm building. It is set in lovely tranquil surroundings between the Aven and Belon rivers and close to the beautiful Cornouaille coast. The property is in a conservation area and is located up a drive from a quiet no-through road. There are numerous safe and very attractive sandy beaches and charming fishing ports close by.. Good surfing is often possible at Le Pouldu, about 15 mins drive away. The South Brittany coastal path is accessible just 5 minutes walk from the property.
The nearest small town is Riec-sur-Belon, about 1km away, which has a number of small shops, a weekly market, as well as a useful supermarket. The picturesque artists' town of Pont-Aven, with galleries and more up-market shopping and eating opportunities is only 5km away. The 'must-see' towns of Concarneau and Quimper are within easy reach. There are a number of golf courses in the area. The immediate vicinity of the property is ideal for family cycling, with generally small, quiet (and relatively flat) roads. There are also a large number of off-road cycle tracks in the area.
The gîte is open-plan downstairs with a well equipped kitchen and living area. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin, a bathroom with bath and shower and a further separate wc.
The building is one of 4 former farm buildings, another of which is holiday accommodation owned by us. The other 2 buildings are owned by our French neighbour but are currently unoccupied. Farming here has ceased but the setting of a very attractive Breton farm, with covered well and gravelled courtyard remains.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen area is fully equipped with a full size electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and ample china and glassware for 4 people.

There is a large pine dining table and 6 chairs.

The washing machine for the sole use of L'Ecurie and L'Etable is located in an adjacent outbuilding.

Living rooms

The living area in L'Ecurie has 2 comfortable sofas and an effective Jotul wood burning stove, with logs provided. The ground floor area is tiled for ease of maintenance.

The first floor is accessed via a closed tread pine staircase. Here there is one double and one twin bedroom. Both bedrooms are furnished in pine and the floors are of smooth wood. Each bed has a duvet with protector and 2 pillows per person. We also provide mattress and pillow protectors. Clients are asked to bring their own bedlinen and personal towels.

Travelcots, highchairs and stairgates are available for clients with small children and babies.

The bathroom in L'Ecurie has a bath with shower attachment and also a separate shower cubicle. There is a second wc also on the first floor.

There are electric radiators in each room and the living area benefits from the effective Jotul wood burning stove, with logs provided.

There is a selection of books and boardgames and a cd player. L'Ecurie also has satellite tv offering English Freeview channels and radio. It also plays dvds and cds. New Wi-Fi for 2015.

Garden and outside

The property has its own private patio and small lawn from which there is direct access to over an acre of communal grounds. The cottage has a wooden picnic table, garden chairs and a charcoal barbecue. A boules pitch and table tennis table are available for the use of guests with equipment provided.

Parking and garages

Off the driveway is a designated parking area with ample space for several cars.

Visitor suitability

L'Ecurie is suitable for couples and small families alike. We include a number of couples among our returning clients, who come back year after year to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the area. L'Ecurie and L'Etable are often rented together by friends or relatives who wish to holiday together but to have separate accommodation side by side.

Lovely spot to spend a week. Great private area at back of property ideal for Bbqs. Small, but cozy and authentic.

Lovely quiet gîte in the country but near Riec sur Belon for a few shops and supermarket. Not far from the coast and beaches yet close to Pont Aven for restaurants and art galleries. Pont Aven is a pretty town in a valley and by the river Aven. The famous artist Paul Gauguin lived here with his artist friends before he moved to the coast at Le Pouldu.
We really enjoyed our stay in this gîte. Owners very helpful throughout the booking. Everything you need in the gîte and it was very comfortable. Thank you.
