Rob and I decided to move to France to have a quieter life and also so we could spend more time with our son, who was 1 at the time. We visited the Farm on a rainy day in January and fell in love with the buildings and the countryside straight away. If it looked this good in the winter imagine during the summer! We left the next day have bought the farm and have never looked back since. We now have 3 boys, some animals (!) and have settled well in to a lovely community.
|Year property purchased||2003|
|Why this location?||We are located in the middle of beautiful countryside yet you can cycle to the local town that has all the amenities we could ever need. It has easy access to the motorway and there are many historic places to visit within a short drive, 10 - 30 mins. We are just a 15 minute drive to many different beaches that are unspoilt and great for children, we love nothing better than picking our children up after school and heading off to the beach for a picnic. Throughout the year you can go out walking on the many coastal paths, that are equally stunning on a stormy winters day as on a sunny summers one.|
|Unique benefits of property||What's unique about our property, well I guess we are a little biased as we live here and love the area and the Breton people.... but we think that we have the perfect place as there is always something to do here, come rain or shine. We have lived here for 12 years now and never have a problem of finding something to do or somewhere to visit.
There are not many places that have historic towns, amazing natural beaches, rivers, some of the best seafood in France landed locally every day, play parks and all on your doorstep. In addition our Cottages are set in the middle of our land, so you have a 100 acres of forest, meadow, river and fields to explore, while at the same time feeling secure that your children can explore as we did when we were their age. Close by we have a cycle path on the old railway line that starts in Roscoff and goes all the way to Concarneau. You can hop on to the track in Rosporden.
But don't take our word for it read the reviews on our website.
Brittany is famous for it's unspoilt beaches and many are within an easy 15 minute drive from Keranmeriet. We have lived here for 12 years now and are still discovering beaches we haven't visited before!
Concarneau is a bustling fishing port (and Frances largest!) and is the best place to buy fresh seafood. There is an old walled town that hides narrow streets and historic houses. Only 15 minutes drive it makes a great place to try out local creperies that Brittany is famous for.
Pony trekking nearby. Free use of mountain bikes Canoes for hire.
Rosporden 2 minutes Pont-Aven 10 minutes Concarneau 15 minutes.
Pont-Aven, only 10 minutes away, is a beautiful town nestling along the banks of the Aven River with its ancient watermills. It was made famous by many artists, one of them being Paul Gaugin and you can now browse the many art galleries and shops.
Quimper lies on the River Odet and is the oldest city in France, well worth a visit, yet only 20 minutes drive away. The beautiful 13th-15th century cathedral has recently been renovated and has beautiful fretwork and stained glass windows. There are a myriad of shops and restaurants to explore, not to mention the many narrow streets.
Throughout the summer months there is a festival on pretty much every weekend and the bigger ones are on for a week to 10 days. There is always lots of dancing, good food (reasonably priced) and a well stocked bar with local cider! Some have fireworks, other have processions and others have dance and music displays and competitions. See our website for more details.
We have 100 acres of beautiful countryside on your doorstep for you to explore, one of the paths recently rediscovered dates from the war when the inhabitants of Concarneau were forbidden to take local wood, so had to travel by horse and cart to the countryside to make charcoal for their fires.
You can picnic by the small lake on the tables provided and spot some of the wildlife, Deer, Coypu, Wild Boar, hares, Kingfishers and Birds of Prey to name a few.
We had a lovely stay at Keranmeriet - a comfortable gite, great pool, beautiful area and lovely beaches a short drive away. Erika and Rob were very helpful and welcoming, and always on hand if we needed anything. The gite had everything we needed and was clean and well equipped. This was our first visit to Finistere and we really love it - the beaches really are stunning. There is also plenty of other things to see and do as well. We would recommend this to friends and family.
Hi Lucy and Rob,

A really fabulous place for a family holiday (for children of all ages). Comfortable self catering gites with pool, in beautiful grounds. Easy access to fantastic beaches, walks, interesting towns with plenty of choice of markets, shops and restaurants etc.
We loved looking round Pont Aven, Quimper and Concarneau and couldn't stay away from Tahiti beach.
Hosts Rob and Erika do an amazing job of making each family feel welcome and go out of their way to assist in any way needed.
Great setting for more than one family to holiday together in adjacent gites.
Would definitely recommend this place to any family.
It's been a pleasure having you stay over the last few years and we are happy that you have enjoyed your holiday here.
Best wishes and thank you, Rob, Erika and the boys
Our week's stay in Minaouet was delightful. A very good position for the coast and for exploring the local interesting small towns. Well designed accommodation in excellent order. Quiet and peaceful rural site.
Erika and Rob work extremely hard to make their guests feel at home and every contact was a pleasure. Lovely hassle-free holiday. What a joy!
Hi Bob and Lolitha,
Thank you for your lovely comments and we are so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday here. It was a pleasure to meet you all and we hope to see you again sometime. Best wishes, Rob and Erika
We had a lovely stay here in June. The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and had everything we needed. Erika kindly provided stair gates, a high chair and baby bath. The setting is idyllic in rolling countryside and close to some great beaches and interesting towns. Unfortunately we were very unlucky with the weather which prevented us from exploring more. I'm sure we will return.
Thank you for your kind comments, it was lovely to meet you all and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. Hopefully the weather will resume it's usual service soon!
Best wishes, Erika and Rob
